IUP Panels, want to paint...

I am strongly considering painting all of my IUP panels. I want to color-match them to my exterior (Black).

I just have a few questions:
1) Do you think i should ?

2) What primer, spray paint and clear coat would you recommend?

3) I know how to remove most of the panels, but was wondering (some of these might not be possible) how to remove the wheel panels, door sills, window switch panel and the plasitc around the auto shift?

1) NO !!! Don't do it !!

2) Hmmm. Something for aluminum I would suspect.

3) Steering wheel pieces: You may destroy them if you try to remove them.
Door Sill: Good question.
Window switch: Just pull up and disconnect.
Auto shift: Nope. Don't try. It is a HUGE piece that goes up under the dash.

The stock panels just stay in place, I believe its an adhesive overlay for the IUP setup. I don't see how you could remove them without bending them

I would just leave them as-is, or replace with the charcoal panels, or order a set of the charcoal panels and paint those(they are smooth).

I think that the IUP panels aren't acutally aluminum. I think they are actually plastic with a decal over it. I'm not sure though...

I have a black car as well with the IUP, and I think if you painted them a gloss black, they would look awesome. As long as you prep them right, then you should be ok. If the panels are indeed plastic as I suspect, then an adhesion promoter, black Krylon Fusion, and a clear coat would proably work great. I have used the Krylon Fusion on many things, and it will bond perfectly to almost any plastic.

I'd love to see some pics if you go through with it...

I can't offer any technical advice but here's a few pics of cars with the mod you planning on. IMO it will look cool.
