I already emailed them about their web site - they said it's a programming error; this unit will fit the '05 Mustang. Here's their response:

Thanks for your e-mail, and for shopping the Crutchfield web site.

I will be happy to help with your question on the Pioneer AVIC-D1. I checked our installation database, and it shows the AVIC-D1 as a recommended fit for both the 2005 Ford Mustang and the 2003 Toyota Tacoma. However, when I used the online Vehicle Selector it is not listed as fitting. Both fit guides are supposed to use the same database, so I'm not sure why the information does not match. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Our database does show a double-DIN size as a recommended fit for both your vehicles. And both vehicles have plenty of available depth so the AVIC-D1 should fit both with no problem:

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/P...sp?i=130avicd1

I'll contact the programmers that update the installation database and see why there is a discrepancy between the two fit guides. In the meantime, if you want to go ahead and order the receiver for either vehicle, we'll add the wiring harness manually when the order downloads.

Just spoke to Marie at Crutchfield. They have the adapters in stock, and they say it will fit. Now if I can find an adapter or unit to allow my fairly new non NAV TRAFFIC XM unit to receive NAV TRAFFIC I'll be a happy camper!!!

I'm afraid if you want to subscribe to the XM NavTraffic service you'll have to buy the Pioneer GEX-P10XMT for an extra $300.00.

There was a guy on fleabay with 3 of those last week and a buy now option of $1200 on them.

I just wish someone would come out with a harness to use the stock speaker wiring and the subs and amps for a Shaker1000 system. That is kind of why I have not installed my Kenwood DDX7015 yet. Waiting on a harness adaptor.

That would be awesome because I too spent the money on the 1000, and would only like to replace the head unit.

Can you play DVD movies on the D1? Also does it have a video input (I'm thinking PS2 here?)

No. DVD movies can't be played on the stock system. However, my installer is looking into getting a third party unit that will allow the D1 to play movies.

I'm interested in what unit they recommend.....and probably more importantly, where are they gonna mount it. The only drawback to the AVIC D1 is no DVDs. Not that it's a major concern to me, but I'm curious as to what they say. I really wanted it for the nav traffic.....being about 15 miles from NYC and travelling a lot, that was really my motive to get the unit.

Let us know......Thanks!!!
