Hurst shift **** and shifter stick w/o short throw?
I really like the look of the Hurst short-throw shifter with the chrome shifter stick and the white cue-ball shift ****, but having driven a GT with the short-throw shifter installed, can't stand the notchy action of the shifter.
I've searched high and low and can't seem to find anything on this, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Has anyone installed the Hurst shifter stick / cue-ball with the stock shift assembly? Is this even possible? I'd love to have the look without the notchiness (or the >$200 price haha).

Possible? I'd have to say yes it's possible. But you'd have to cut the stock shaft and weld the Hurst to the stub. There's no practical way (really no way I know of) to replace just the handle on the stock shifter

I kind of figured this was the case, after seeing pictures of both the hurst and OEM shifter assemblies next to each other.
If anyone has any more info though, feel free to chime in.

It sounds like you've seen pics of the Hurst handle. Have you had the opportunity to look at the stock one ??
If not here is a shot from TacoBill's MGW write-up
vs
The shift levers/sticks are so different that I would imagine it would cost much more than the cost of the Hurst to get it done properly. That is if you don't want it to come off in your hand.

habu, thanks for linking that pic. Looks like I won't be going with the Hurst shifter handle I really love the look of the chrome handle, but the shifts are just WAY too notchy for a daily driver (IMO). I love the feel of the factory shifter action.
