GPS Nav.: got the new Garmin C330
Hi guys,
I got the new Garmin C330 GPS Nav.Sys. (very similar to the TOM TOM GO) and I must admit so far it has been faultless, very easy to use and basically perfect.
For anyone wondering what GPS Nav to get, I recommend the Garmin C330.
Take care

What's so funny. It's a portable unit. The wire is probably the power cord.

Normally it goes like this:
1) think 2) open your mouth 3) express yourself with a degree of intelligence
and NOT like you did:
1) open your mouth 2) express yourself (note the absence of the "think" part)
in a stupid way.
I confirm it's a portable unit and yes, that's a power cord that needs to be plugged in the 12v outlet (actually it has its own battery, but I prefer having it plugged in, so that I don't have to bother wondering how much time I have left in the battery before having to recharge it).
And now, what do you have to say about this ???
Oh, and one more thing: my post is NOT about how this unit looks, it's not a gps fashion competition, it's about how it works. It's called FEEDBACK and it's intended for helping out prospective buyers of this unit.
But I guess it's too hard to understand for you (never mind the title of my topic, did you notice it ?)...

Precisely, nailed it perfectly.
Thank the Lord for the fact there are still people out there that think first, then speak.
Thank you buddy.

well, I will have to investigate the matter in order to give you a comprehensive answer. I will research the instruction manual (so far I breezed thru it...seen that using the C330 is very intuitive, I felt so far I didn't need to study it that much) and post in a day or two.
However, already now I can confirm that there are a few options in the Garmin C330 that allow you to customize a bit your trip and also you have the possibility to insert waypoints so that if in your trip you'd like to stop somewhere and then resume, you can.
Though I would like you to elaborate a bit more on the "custom route" concept you mentioned. What type of customizations did you have in mind ? I am asking so that I can research a specific topic in the instruction manual, not for anything else, of course.
If the Garmin is like the Tomtom go (which I believe is better all the way around, expecially with the new models that are out now), then it WOULDN'T require the power cord dangling. It may not be like the tomtom. The tomtom go has a 5 hour rechargable lithium ion battery. You charge it at home then you need NO WIRES when you place it on your dash. If the battery runs out, then you CAN (if you want to) attach it to a power cord. If the Garmin doesn't have a battery built in, then it stinks IMO compared to the tomtom.

Even if you can prove this is the case, I do NOT understand why you are seemingly trying to bash the product I bought (I get this feeling by your choice of words). I like it, it suits my needs, I believe it's a great unit, I am not here to make a comparison/battle-of-the-gps versus any other competitor like you seemingly are, I thought people would like to have some feedback from the owner of a Garmin C330 like me when they are deciding what to choose for themselves and here I am using my free time to try to give them a little help in deciding. So if people are not interested, sure...fine by me...no problem...if I know that I helped someone out there by posting my feedback and pics, I am glad I was of any help...
Again, read the title: it's NOT "Garmin C330 vs. Tom Tom Go: the final showdown", do you get it ?
I don't want to start a flame war with you, but be advised I never back down in case this is what you are trying to start here. So if you want a civilised conversation/dialog, sure, if you want war, fine by me too.
- The Garmin C330 has got as well a rechargeable lithium ion battery, it lasts 4 hours (if you did NOT know this, a pretty basic piece of information...what do you know about the C330 ? Probably very little). It's MY CHOICE to have it connected to the 12v outlet so that I don't have to worry wether the battery is charged or not: it's about peace of mind... If people don't appreciate the aestetics of wires coming down from the nav.sys. to the 12v outlet, I don't give a crap about it...it's fine by me.
I wanna also say that it's really disgusting seeing that when someone like me takes his time to post something that might be useful (--> feedback) to other people in this forum, from certain individuals you get answers that try to ridicule this or start flame wars (some people should really check their education and manners...it really is lacking in all departments...when someone gives you something for free, even if it's only a few words of friggin' feedback, if you feel the urge to express yourself just say "thank you", you arrogant ingrates...).
This is what you get for trying to help out. Then people wonder why in today's world there is so much misery and crap going on all over this planet...It's no surprise...
Well, then enough of help from me when these are the answers I get...Go out there, get what you want, hope it will be a lemon...

What I meant by the custom route feature is I want to be able to specify the route I want to take, Not accept what the GPS says is the quickest or shortest.
I'm planning on taking a trip from Buffalo to Harrisburg PA this spring. I want to be able to take some thruway, and some back roads make it a full days trip or a two days trip.
Sounds like the way points would be the way to go in this case. Are you happy with the built in database now that you have had it for a while and had a better chance to play with it?
Thanks for all your input
