Door Subs - Mounting Depth
Does anyone know the mounting depth of the front door subs? I am looking at purchasing some JL Audio 8W3v2 to replace the stock ones. They have a mounting depth of 4.3 in.
Thanks for your help.

Thats too deep to go in without modification. Check this thread out.

3.5", but you could get another .25" VERY easy. CDT's EF-8 will fit with no modification, and it is easily on par with the JL, if not better. If you can wait about 30 days, Dayton will be releasing 4-ohm unshielded versions of their RS drivers. That will possibly be the best bang-for-the-buck in the audio world. VERY good sounding drivers, and cheap prices to boot. How can you beat that?

Are the Dayton dual voice coil like the stockers?

That part I'm unsure of. I would like for them to at least OFFER a DVC version. I'll e-mail and find out- then I'll update here. Chances are good that you won't want to use the stock amps on these anyway.
What is everyone's opinion on the ROCKFORD FOSGATE STAGE 2 P28S4s? The mount depth is 3 13/16", and they are rated at 200w RMS / 400w peak.
Like everyone else I am trying to decide on which door subs to go with. I have a brand new set of MTX 8s, dual voice coil, 400w ( dont remember the model number right off hand ) but they are 4 1/2" deep. The more I think about it the less I want to cut and fiberglass the door panels. So looking at alternatives. I found a set of the CDT EF-8s reasonably cheap, like 75 bucks or so including shipping on fleabay. I am unfamiliar with the CDTs though.

The CDT's are pretty nice, but fairly inefficient. The RF's would possibly work, but, WOW, are they ugly. The Kicker SS MB8's would be ideal if you're using an additional subwoofer, but they're kinda pricey. Most all Morel and Dynaudio drivers will fit, but they need about 300 RMS to even sound decent. I'm still awaiting info on the Daytons- they're the most promising drivers coming at present time. Ben Milne of Elemental Designs is making some slim-line drivers, but he's starting with a 10. He did state that he could have me some 9kv2's made with Neodymium magnets for a pretty hefty price tag.
