Look good! The Kicker thin mount ones (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-HHYPBTO...ker-SSMB8.html)

would probably fit depth wise better than the CVT.

I am actually going to try and do a 11CVR8 in there, running them and kicker componet sets in front doors, kicker coax in rear off a kicker 600.5, gonna do 2 CVR 10's in trunk on kicker DX1000.1.

Josh , I ordered a set of CVT8's from Amazon and the picture from the add looked like yours , but the ones I got were black and they didn't have the grille you show. Did it come with your speakers or did you have to order it separately. I followed an old link of yours to Crutchfield but they don't carry them anymore so I found them on Amazon and thought I was ordering the same ones you have ...

Wow! Prices 1/2 what I paid a few years ago, just checked on Amazon.

I did have to buy the grilles separately, were very pricey if I remember correctly, but figured for where they are I'd need them, Took a while to find as well, I think. They look fine without, though, so I guess it's 'optional'.

Does look like they changed the color too, and the new version is the $100 I paid:

Here's the grille, I go through SE all the time, good company:

I ordered the Shelby door subs from champion mustang which are just modified kicker cvt's. They bolt right in with no modifications and come with some speaker grilles that make it look like a stock install.

Hmmm...

I don't think they're the same, but I could be wrong:

The CVT8s I installed were DEFINITELY NOT drop in install. Had to hack out the plastic behind to get the magnet to fit, and the 8 screw in spots didn't mate very well to the plastic surround that the Ford factory ones did. I think the Shelby ones are different.

Josh , after I posted I googled Kicker grilles and found them and order a set. I already have the Shelby Kickers you show in pictures , but I really liked the way the grille looks on yours and decided to change them. When the grilles arrive I'm going to see if they will work on the Shelby's , the web site I got them from said they would work on other 8" kickers. Also , the Shelby's do fit without any modification other than cutting off the plug on the speaker wires to connect them. If the grilles work on the Shelby's I'll return the CVT8's ...

I dont know. I know they dont look exactly the same but they have the same specs and made of the same material so I assumed they were a different variation of the same sub.

Only if you give them decent power, the stock amps aren't up to it (15W I believe)
Sound much better overall than stock if you do, though.

Where did you put your amp or amp(s) at? Where is the stock amp located anyways?

Trunk, particle board covered in carbon fiber look pleather, and bolted to the rear bulkhead.
I used a 2 channel for the 8" (not 6") CVT8s, and then a 4+1 for the door/rear shelf 6x8s, and the 12" sub in a MTX thuderform enclosure with the carbon-fiber overlay (which I'll be putting up for sale soon -- going track car and it's too heavy).

Stock amps were a major PITA, the worse thing I've done on the entire car. They're tucked way up in the drivers footwell.

So I still need a simple and fairly inexpensive door sub replacement idea.. I want a nice kick in both doors and in guessing I'll need an amp too, do they make amps that I could put where the stock ones are

Nope. They're dinky, size of a paperback book.

Unfortunately there is no cheap or easy way with this.

These CVT8s, at least mine (they did update them, so maybe changed other things) are too deep for the door sub plastic pockets, requiring cutting out a fair chunk of plastic (not visible after install) to get the magnet to fit.

The Mustang specific Kickers might be different -- I'd think they would be if they say they're drop in. But you won't be happy with the stock amps powering them -- guarantee you. The speakers need much more power to get them to move.
