What year do you have? 07+ cars have one in the center console.

if the funds are availible get a new head unit, the differerence in sound is worth it. Plus you can get more than just an aux input.

This is the one I have: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=813

They also have one that uses the iPod cable and you can actually use your head unit to change tracks and such: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1027

The one I have works fine! No problems and sounds good! I have the cable running to my center console... But I definitely want to eventually upgrade to a new head unit...

If you want to keep your head unit but actually use the aux button that is already there you can do what I did and get this: http://www.pie.net/index.php?option=...d=45&Itemid=40

It plugs into the back of the head unit. I then bought a RCA to 3.5mm cable that runs up through my center console. Its a crude solution with a wire hanging out of the armrest but at $70 for the adapter and the cable, it was a much better alternative to a new stereo for 600+.

I used the same PIE unit, the FRD-04. But instead of the 3.5mm jack, I went with the iPod charging/audio cable. If you have an iPod or iPhone, its much nicer approach. Otherwise, I'd i have a 3.5 cable coming out the top and a charging cable coming out the bottom of the phone. Too clunky for me while having to drive a stick.

I just popped out the e-brake adjuster panel in the center console to pull it through. Haven't decided on the permanent cable routing.

Has anyone tried this? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_581P15F...rd.html?tp=120

I've got a convertible and don't really want some high end deck sitting in my car with the top down. I'd imagine thieves would be more likely to pass when they see a stock stereo head.

Allright, I installed the USA Spec PA-11 Ford-1. Everything works EXCEPT the sound!!

Anyone put one of these in? I just want to button this up as it was an easy install, but not without the sound working.

Addl info: everything else works, CD, AM/FM, sound and all. The ipod will go back and forth to head control and ipod control as advertised, text of song info is on the unit but again no sound.

Update: Take your radio head out and see if there's 3 connectors or 2. If you have 3, you have the "Factory Satellite" stereo and if it's 2 it the plain jane system. Point being, you'll need the Pa-11Ford-2 for a 3 connector (satellite radio) and the Ford1 for the non-satellite radio. Bummer, gotta put it back together and order the other one.

Update #2:

The PA-11 Ford-1 is the correct unit. The previously mentioned one was defective. System is rocking and charging my phone too :-)
