Well after much debating and talking to several dealers and getting imput from my wife, I called my dealer and changed from tungsten to satin silver.
I have been going to a local dealership in the Oklahoma City area to look at the tung. GT. It caught me off gusrd at first, but I tried to force myself to like it. I took my wife once, my dad once, and a co-worker once to look at the car to get their imput. All were put off by the purple tint. I then saw it under flourescent lights and the dang thing looked PINK!!!!!!!!!!

I talked to several dealers here and all said the color is already very popular with a lot of the younger high school age girls. Then my wife topped it off by saying i"it is kind of a girly color." That did it for me. I called my dealer and changed to silver. He said he agreed with the change. He thinks tung. will run its course and he has had nothing but negative feedback about it. I'm so disappointed that Ford didn't go with the same color at the 04 show car. Maybe I caved to peer pressure, but after a week of agony, I feel a weight has been lifted.

To each his own; that's why Ford offers such a variety of color. I've received nothing but compliments, and I'm very happy with the color. It hasn't shown any of the pink undertones you mention, but I've only see it in daylight, both overcast and sunny. I haven't seen it under flourescent lighting. I do notice that it really reflects colors around it.

I had a '72 240z that was satin silver, and it was an awesome color. You'll love it!

Here's a pic of mine in full sun.

I have ordered the color sight unseen and have no worries. I also ordered Satin Silver last year without ever seeing it.
Glad you made yourself happy. Thats all that matters.

Then I am definitely glad I ordered Tungsten.

Dusty, your pic looks great, makes me want tungsten again, but it just looks different to me in person. Thanks for replying to my post.

I was sold on Tungsten when I saw the FORD GT supercar. After seeing the pictures of Tungsten on the Mustang, the two colors didn't look similar to me. Some people on this site swore up and down that they are the same color and color code. I just can't see the similarities. I switched as well but to WB. I'm sure we'll all be happy with the color we get.

I think both are nice!!! I have a 05 in Satin Silver with the red interior option and I love it. I quit counting long ago the number of compliments I've received on the car and the color.

Rob... one question. After you purchase this car, just when do you anticipate anyone will ever see this car again under flouescent lights? If you're happy with your decision, then I am happy for you. If you made the switch because of peer pressure... well... take a day off and revisit the subject.

"Search your feelings, Rob! Tungsten is your father, er... COLOR!"

Keep in mind that same fluorescent lights are not the stark white you often see in office settings, but tend a bit toward....you guessed it...pink. Something about a more natural light. If you've seen the cold white ones next to the pinker ones you'll know what I'm talking about.

I started a different thread on the paint codes. I have a Tungsten GT being built next week. Certainly hope I like it.

Of course I've always wanted a plum crazy purple Hemi Cuda, so maybe a grey with a hint of purple in it will be right up my alley...

And plus, who cares what other people think.
If you like the color, then let them ponder how girley it is when they're choking on your exhaust and tire smoke.

"Satin" Silver doesn't sound very manly either....

But, it didn't stop me from ordering satin silver. My wife made a comment that the tungsten reminded her of primer.

Donna: No problem Glad I could help.

It looks lighter in pics than it does in person...but it is a lighter silver.
I just didn't want the exact same colour twice....and Tungsten wasn't available on the 05s, so I went with the first colour I loved...Windveil...

From the moment I saw the redfire GT and V6 Windveil in motortrend...I was hooked.

Funny, when changing my order from SS to Tungsten became an option for me,
I did so quickly because I thought that SS looked too light to me based on the pics I've seen online.
Then I test drove a SS GT the other day and realized that the color is definitely not as light as it appears in pictures.
I am still going ahead with the TG, but this goes to show that there really is no substitute for seeing the real color with your own two eyes.
