My tint guy says the mustangs and newer cars are a real problem now. Because the window moves down when you open the door and also the plastic is to close to the window so it will scratch. So I guess no tint for me.

There are plenty of people with tint on 05+, make sure your installer installs felt. Search the site (for felt) for more info on this. I would do the search and post the link, but still have not learned how to do that.

Lots of talk early about scratched tint. I havn't seen too much traffic about it lately. No scratches on my tint after about 4 months (no felt, either)

My tint did get scratched, but I never bothered to install felt. The scratches are only noticable if the light is shining just right, and they are not noticable from the outside. As far as the small window drop, that has not been an issue at all.

Install felt and tint away.

My tint was definately getting scratched but after putting the felt on it hasn't gotten any worse. Do a search and you will find lots of posts on the kind of felt used and then you'll be ok to get the windows tinted.

sounds like you need a new tint guy.

when i called mine, he already knew about the two issues: scratches and window going up and down. the mustang isn't the only car that does that, so it seems that maybe your guy might not have too much experience

anyways, all he needs to do is install some felt on the edge, and wait a little longer then normal before sending you on your way so that it dries enough along the bottom so it doesn't make a mess when you open and shut the door.

if the tint shop is good enough, he should be able to get it close to the edge of the window (see pic - sorry it's fuzzy).

cheers

I put the windows all the way up then pulled the fuses to the window motors. When the tint was done, I put the fuse back for the driver side window and lowered it just enough to clear the seal when opening and closing the door. Then I removed the fuse again. Kept it this way for about 6 days before putting the fuses back.

My tint got scratched and I told the dealer about it while I was in there for other TSBs. He had some felt installed for me and told me to go get it re-tinted and bring him the bill. Done free!
