Alloy pedal kits and dead pedals

I recall reading that the Ford/OEM alloy pedals are basically slip-over replacements for the stock clutch and brake pedals, but the OEM throttle is a new pedal.

Is there an easy way of replacing the entire set of 3 pedals with solid/reliable alloy pedals that don't require set-screws, adhesive, or other nonsense? I don't need something slipping off while I am trying to stop or upshift!

Also, I am in need of a quality dead pedal. I rented a 2007 Taurus and I was amazed that it came with a very solid dead pedal, whereas none of the other Fords I've owned/own ever came with a dead pedal. The 07 GT needs one because I'm going to eventually wear a hole in the carpet from where my left foot rests in between clutching. Any ideas? I've seen a few that bolt into the carpet while others clip onto the side kick panels. I would like something that is OEM-like in quality/installation; something Hau Thai Tang himself would be satisfied using on his own Stang (if he has one) and this goes for the alloy pedal kit as well.

I looked at the various dead pedal kit offerings and they're mostly a joke. I don't see drilling into my carpeting as an option (at all), and the ones that use a bracket come with the wrong size pedal. Something like the Ultimate Pedal mounted on a bracket would be the "ultimate" solution, but thus far I haven't found a vendor that offers one. Right now, I am still using the factory plastic wrap they use to cover the carpet. I would like to remove it but only when I have found a good dead pedal solution.

although not yet seen, ROUSH just came out with one that has a bracket. Our ROUSH guy here doesn't have it in stock yet (Brandon Parts Ford ), I'm on his call list for it.

Is this it?

Do you know how large the pedal is? The Steeda uses a similar bracket, but is ridiculously small. It barely covers the carpet.

Hmmm that looks snazzy. Do you know how large the dead pedal is, and if it covers the important parts of the carpet? The clutch, brake, and throttle pedals don't look interesting to me namely because they look like they need set-screws drilled into the steel pedals. I would be interested in just the dead pedal if it was a good design.

I though of combining the Ultimate Pedal with the Steeda dead pedal bracket but after paying less than $40 for the entire 4 pedal Steeda kit I felt paying >$70 just for a single larger dead pedal from Ultimate Pedal was a bit rediculous.

I used the GT500 from CDC and Autovation for the dead. I backed the dead pedal with a trimmed cheapo rubber mat. CDC pedal replace the clutch/brake with same design as OEM and the gas is glued. NO Slipage from my experience. It's solid as can be.

Available online from: www.Roushperformance.com Part # 402827.

HOWEVER!! I am NOT recommending them, I only found them. We have a ROUSH dealer here. Should actually see them soon, before I make the dive for them. If it's no bigger than there regular Billit one's, I won't be interested either.

Does Autovation sell just the dead pedal? I looked on their website and only complete pedal sets are listed.

Saleen sells the dead pedals off their S197 stangs and it comes with a bracket and full instructions and you can roll with some new pedals, KC sells a GT500 pedal set with a new gas pedal assembly and the slip on covers and no they do not slip off. In reality your factory pedals are slipped on

The stock throttle pedal isn't glued on, which is my biggest gripe about the GT500 pedal set.

One thing I noticed about this dead pedal is that it gets filthy. I took it off recently and scrubed it and used all sorts off cleaners but the stains didn't come off. I wouln't buy it again because of that. It a dead pedal, it's going to get dirty.

The Steeda dead pedal is too small to be of any use.

The CDC GT500 kit looks very nice, EXCEPT for the throttle pedal. I do not like the idea of glue/adhesive.

but the one KC sells is a whole new gas pedal and you have to disconnect the old one and unbolt it then replace the whole thing with the new one

Do you know where I can find pics or instructions on how to swap the throttle pedal? Does KC sell the entire pedal kit?

Ultimate Pedals is the only way. IF you want some nice pedals custom made for you, the way you want them, and dont mind taking your time and doing some pretty easy drilling, then you should do ultimate pedals. They have the best dead pedals on the market, flat or with a 90 degree flange on the side that will firm it up and protect even more. They also can make you the logos on the pedals, inserts or not, and made exactly the way you want them. If you want them an exact size let them know and they can make them bigger etc. I got an oversized brake pedal. Had the size all the ponies the same on all the pedals etc. They can do a lot just have to let them know what you want. Good luck. Oh yah with lock nuts and nice bolts, they arent ever coming undone unless you want them too.
