05 Tinted Windows
Does anyone know why Ford did not offer tinted windows as an option on the 05?
Is this because it will be offered as standard equipment? I did not see tinted glass mentioned anywhere in the order guide. The pre-production model I saw on the pony drive (redfire) had slightly tinted windows. I live in MA and when you get your car inspected each year they will put a light meter on your windows to see if enough light passes through, if not they will deney you an inspection sticker. This is especially true when you use a film application that is to dark. (I know I had to remove mine to get a darn sticker) I would prefer to have my windows tinted by the manufacturer versus having to apply film. The film also has it's isadvantages, whereas; it is prone to nicks and scratches. I just want to protect my new leather seats when the pony's in the sun. Are there any other aftermarket ways to tint glass other than applying film?

Kevin, so if I understand you correctly, your saying that the 05 will come automagically with slightly tinted green windows? Because, if that is the case, that would be eggggcelent.

i believe the dealer does the tinting.

To be honest I dunno how they do it. Its probably a chemical coating.
by law car manufactures can only tint the rear windows of a truck like vehicle... only the windows behind the front driver and passanger windows...
meaning a truck or suv... even some station wagons.. like the new dodge magnum....
this is all done at the factory, with a coting before the window is even put on the vehicle.
now the front window and the front driver and passanger windows are also coated with a uva and uvb filtering coat, this is tint but not not really.

I'll be having limo tint (film) put on all but the windshield.
Here in Colorado the cops don't seem to care. In California you'd have to play the game. Get em tinted, drive around for 3-4 months, get pulled over and receive a "fix-it" ticket, peel off the tint, go to Highway Patrol station, get fix-it ticket voided, have windows retinted. Repeat as necessary.
I've had limo on all the back windows and one shade lighter (almost limo) on the driver and passenger side for more than 10 years and never had a cop even give me a second look. I think part of the reason the cops don't seem to notice as much is that so many cars now come with dark tint (on the rear windows).
