Will the hood scoop fit?
I have a link showing my latest mods of the Boss 429 nonfunctional hood scoop and the CDC chin spoiler before they go for painting. The problem is that the hood scoop does not exactly fit the contours of the hood. Anyone else have this same part and can provide so suggestions?

Thats not an actual Boss 429 scoop. This pic shows a Boss 429 scoop.
The scoop you have is one sold as a "Boss 429 style" scoop, like the one sold here.

In any case if tightning down the 2 front bolts doesnt make it fit right, a body shop can trim on the bottom side for a good fit.

The Boss 429 scoop is available here

A Cougar coupe, identical but slightly smaller is also available

I have really been thinking hard about this one, but have been holding off to see what else might become available as it seems to be taking a long time for new scoop/hoods to hit market for the 05.
Thanks for the info everyone. I ordered mine from Crossroadz Direct. Mine came with double stick tape, but I'm have the guy at the body shop screw it to the hood. I figure the tape won't be able to handle the wear and tear. WinterStang, did your tighting technique casue any stress on the piece? It sounds like a workable idea. Thanks.
Actually that is the scoop I bought for my car was the one in the picture.
I am going to try to sand it down to fit on the hood of the new mustang..
One of those fun projects..

Anyway... the scoop is so big the little bit (1/4" at the most) you have to draw in down on each side didn't cause any stress on the scoop... but as already mentioned, ya can shave it or sand it down, carefully in the middle where it sits on the crease we have on the middle of our hoods, and that'll work.I screwed up and tighten it down on one side at a time, instead of alternating... (doh! As the instructions I got with mine said to alternate tightening.....) and it's flush on the drivers side with the hood, but is not quite flush on the other side, about 1/16 or so of an inch. Was afraid to "crank" down on it, as the studs are plastic, and didn't want to un-screw it and take the chance of not being able to tighten it down at all. As sticking those torque nuts on the plastic studs, is kinda a one time deal...
MRT offers a Boss 429-styled hood scoop. It was used on the MRT Interceptor show car. Go to www.mrt-direct.com and take a look.
I would really like a scoop to compliment the retro styling but I haven't decided which way to go on this. I sure wish they would do a functional scoop. I hate to just stick it on there for cosmetic purposes.
