From Saleen

http://www.saleen.com/SC101_Services/SC101_Shopper/showItem.php?menuId=131&itemNum=10-1101-B11307*

If the link does not work go to www.saleen.com, Click on parts/gear then aerodynamics, then mustang, then 05-08 body parts. They are listed there for $199

I wanted to modify a set of those for around my SHR louvers, but can't see paying $199 for a small piece of plastic.

I was going to cut out the forward most portion so just the outer ring was left. Then sand and paint the same color as the body so as to give the look of:

wow I never thought about this I really like this idea actually.... to bad SHR doesn't offer some type of trim like this. I had considered buying them and having them molded to the body but I was told due to heat (esp cuz I'm in Tx) that this was a HORRIBLE idea. I like your idea here though even though it is pricey it would be cheaper then having a body shop mold them.

Use the Shelby aluminum trim.

It will fit over our piece because our louver in that area is a perfect match for the OEM glass.

Of course remember the reason the original had the lip was of how it mounted, and most of those cars at shows I have seen, the louver does not fit flush to the body as well as it *looks* in that picture...

so what could we use to do something similar? I would totally jump at the idea of the SHR louvers if I could possibly find a way to make the gap either non existant or molded so that it doesn't look like it has that gap. Any ideas on how to do this?

I don't think the Shelby piece covers the slit left from the SHR louver though.

Nope - take out the gap and you run the risk of cracking whatever you use to fill it.

Build a ledge, and you're going to to have problems as well. The gap is there for the same reason the glass has the gap - expansion of materials is different and will cause a problem if it is not allowed to shift as needed.

What slit are we talking about Danny? I am thinking of the little aluminum trim ring that goes around the edge - while it may not "fill" the gap between the louver and the quarter panel, it should draw the eye away from it a bit, which is what I think he is after in this case.

The gap is the slit I am referring to. :-)

Hey, think y'all can machine up some of the chrome trim for the clear louver part that 3Ms to the outside yet you can still see through? I'd buy a set today, and would gladly give you pics for your ads ;-) I already have the louvers, fuel door, rear medallion, and mirrors from y'all

Don't know if we could machine something like that - it would get very weak as you removed the material from the center, don't know if you could keep it clamped in the machine while cutting it... maybe something to look at though. It is definitely a stamped part if it were mass-produced, but I don't know how that would work out...

Car is looking nice - we just did the CS rear bumper on the white one as well. Is that a Ferrari back end I see in the right edge of the photo ?

The backend in that picture is a Acura with body kit. On the lot during the time I picked it up where 2 ferraris though. A race one, and one with deal plates still on it. I've seen more high end cars in the month my car was there than I have this whole previous year. These guys do GREAT work!
