I like the look, don't like the dull finish... Just me tho. But for a DIY nicely done.

It's not the night visibility thats so comprimised bro, its the daytime visibility of the lights, people have tough time seeing the red through the glare the coating produces.

That's one reason blackout panels are illegal.

Well if you look in the first picture of the post, there is a picture showing the brake lights during the day. The two tails are just as bright, if not brighter, as the 3rd brake light. I'm not sayin all blacked out taillights are safe and visible, but I'm sayin mine aren't too terrible in that department. And if a person can't tell that the lights are changing from black to red, even if there is some glare, they shouldn't be out on the road anyway IMHO. It is still bright enough to see the contrast from when the lamps are on and when they're off.

You are right I did make it sound like cars don't need lights. So to make it up to you I made a car with super lights

LOL!! Thanks for posting that here wade!

As for dimishing the light output that tinting the lights does. i have two vehicles with the tails blacked out and the light shines through exactly the same.

And if thats what bumpers are for your gonna need this. Then people should be able to see you.

Yours looks good! I had mine professionally done with black/clear paint. I also had my blackout panel painted black with the same black/clear coat, so it would all blend in together. My light are super dark and the stock bulbs didn't cut it for me. I went the extra mile and got these....

They cost a pretty penny, but these led's are really bright. I tried the ebay led's and they weren't any brighter then stock. I'm brighter now with v-leds led's then I was before stock without the tinted lights.
