Want Black GT emblem

Hey all,
Where can I get or how does one properly paint one of these S197 GT emblems black? I hear it's not good to paint over chrome, I know it's plastic with chrome on it. Are they available, or what are you people with them doing?

I'm thinking of painting my fender emblems black, i've already done the front and rears. As long as you sand the surface and then clean them there won't be a problem.

The parts are vaccu-chromed so you can sand the chrome off pretty easily with some 220 grit wet paper then use an etching primer then your coat of black paint.

For the chrome replacements,I've not run across any Black ones yet.
You can usually get them on ebay,
here's another place;

I sprayed mine with Krylon Satin Black. Held up fine through the past winter.

I know that ammonia will remove chrome from plastic in a short amount of time. Let the badges soak overnight, wipe them down with a rag to get any stragglers off, wash with water, and you are all set.

I will for sure will be getting a second set to try this on. But a friend of mine says not all eching primer is for the same kind of abs. I'll start by ordering the emblems and keep watching this thread for what sounds like the best to try.
I sure appreciate and want all the advise I can get.
Here's what the car looks lke now. doesn't it need black emblems?

I personally would go looking for the smoked look of http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html
I did it to my spare emblem. And it looks pretty good.

I wish I was confident enough that I could do it right so that it would last and not have to worry about car washes (touchless) and all. I'm kinda pick and want it right or not at all.
Does that mean I'm OCD on top of being retarded
