Against my better TMS judgement I TRIED to get my side stripes done today. Guy talked me down to 3/4" - 3" - 3/4". Walk over to the local strip mall for a couple hours, come back - car is not done. Guy has this look on his face like "I'm gonna kill ya"..........any guess as to why he could NOT do my stripes?????.................starts with a Z...........you guessed it........he said that the stripes would not stick due to the ZANIO!!! (Tues/Wed did two coats of Z5 and Z2) And that unless I un-Zanio it, I would never have stripes. He said they just slid right off. The wind blew them off. Any thoughts on this matter??? How do I get Zanio off???

I told the guy I put the Zanio on earlier in the week, he said no problem, they take everything off with rubbing alcohol.

Might want to try dish soap, pretty good for stripping wax. If nothing else, I've used goo gone on small areas of my car to get gum and other sticky goop off my car but only used it on small spots so dont know if it will damage the paint if you were to use it on a larger area.

+1.

Dude is right, dish soap will strip it off. It needs taken off before anything will stick, vinyl or paint.

Naptha. It is the primary ingredient in some goo-gone type products also. This is what Graphics Express recommends using before applying any of their decals. They come right out and say that any type of wax on the car will cause the stripes to peel right off. That guy should have known that. GE says to wipe it down 10 times with Naptha. The stuff works great, doesn't seem to harm clearcoat, and is also great for removing tar spots. Of course it also removes every last trace of wax, too, so you have to rewax afterwards.

You can remove Zaino from your finish by hand washing your car with Dawn dish washing soap.

even a prep-solvent like DX330 will strip the zaino off as a last resort. Otherwise, dish soap will do the trick.

Thanks for the tips on removal of the Zanio, it's only the bottom rocker panel, so no big deal! I guess if I do full body stripes one day - ouch. Maybe this makes my decision easier.

I hate to not use this guy, he came highly recomended. I guess he learned his lesson, as he already cut the material - and he ate it in the end.......

Just found this http://2005-mustang.com/x-installation_cleaning.asp

End the end, this probably work out for the best. My eyes were dialated from going to the eye Dr, so I probably picked green instead of blue. I probably picked to big of a patern, and I probably told him to do the rear of the car as well. Hard to believe this guy doesn't know the necessity of removing wax before applying vinyl. The Zaino did you a favor by totally confounding him. Sounds like he probably has other customers riding around with their graphics applied over wax...

Might want to shoot Sal Zaino an email, as far as I know dish soap will not completely remove Zaino. Rubbing alcohol will though.

a couple of wipe downs with dawn and your clay bar should do it.

My car is being painted right now. I told the guy before I dropped it off that I waxed it a week ago and asked if he wanted me to wash it or anything. He told me not to worry about it because he would degrease all the areas that were going to be painted/cleared before he painted anyways.

I'm up in the Jax area. I think this guy probably does good work, but now I'm afraid to take my car back to him AFTER I remove the Zanio. I agree with some other posters, this is something HE should have known before hand. I shouldn't of had to gather this info after the fact. So my goal for this week is to find a good vinyl guy, if that fails then I will save up for paint!!!! (my first choice)
