Twist lock hood pins
Wow you are awesome , good explanation , and really good mock ups . Afet I have seen them I am sure I can make them . To bad you dont live in Colorado , we could be making those and selling then . (lol) Could you hook me up with where you bought your hood pins , and once they are in the hood , what keeps them from falling out ? Stupid question I know , but i dont want them coming out after I open the hood .
There actually is a small 'o' shaped pin that sits on the part of the pin that is already through the hood and keeps it in place and from falling out when they are locked. I'll go outside and take a picture of it here in a min and post it shortly.
----I tried to take a picture of it about 10 times, but even with the flash, I just cant seem to get a good photo of it. If you go to the link I put below (its the same link to the picture I posted earlier), look to the right of the hood pin on the right of the picture. It does show the 'o' (my dad who is a retired mechanic calls it a 'circlip') type of clip that fits into a very small channel on the lower part of the pin. It holds the pin in place and restricts it from pulling back through the hood when it is unlocked. It may not be obvious enough to you from my description or the pics, but be sure, it is and will be when you have the pins in your hand.
You can buy the hood pins here: http://www.cobranda.com/19shhopi.html but do yourself (and me) a favor and make sure those are the right ones by talking to phil at TruFiber (those are the exact ones I'm using though...and it also is where I bought them since Trufiber didnt sell them at the time).

you can buy some from Cobranda, as for the gauges, i suggest you get a Auto Meter. it's cheap and durable.
