TRUFIBER HOODS for Those with GT500 front Fascia!
Whilst we're on the hood pin theme, how's your hood holding up at 65 mph + speeds? My SS hood seems to be okay, but I'm just a little paranoid about the eventuality and have been considering simple hood pins even though I don't really like them.
Who's idea was it to put the hood pins there? I'm sorry, but that's a total eye sore on your otherwise gorgeous car.
Hey Rob,
I noticed after about 2 months of driving you could notice the hood lifting above 80mph so I put the hood pins on mine but your 2nd gen may hold up better if the hood is thicker .
The 1st gen hood seems to be laid up a bit thin on the top layer of the hood and you could see it when I drilled it out for the hood pins. I am using a custom hood pin with an aluminum plate that goes on the bottom of the hood to sandwich the upper layer of the glass hood between 2 layers for strength.

This hood pins thing is really getting me paranoid, I really dislike the idea of putting pins on my SuperSnake hood but I don't wanna lose m hood either.
What are your thoughts Rob?
ha ha that will ****-off the Shelby SS guys, more clones with "non factory" striping. I upset some SS guys in the Shelby forums by saying that at least I had a choice of colour and that after spending ca. $80k ($50k for GT500 & $27k) I'd wanna call the shots on which colour my stripes were gonna be plus the fact that they are all vinyl.
One guy actually said something like "only the vinyl will do as its authentic", yeah authentic because Shelby is screwing you for $1400 for the vinyl.

So your car seems to be blown and probably pulls nicely 0-60, have you ever taken it to the strip? What I'm getting at is, without pins do you think the hood will stay in place with a quick 1/4 mile dash?

I've never taken it to the strip, but I think the hood will stay in place just fine. I've had it up to 120 + and it obviously bows up a little at about 80, but I don't notice it bowing up any worse at 120.........Hopefully I'll get it to the track one of these days.
