Trucarbon A53 hood, A year later
Ok it's been a year since I installed my Trucarbon A53 hood and fenders. The fenders so far have held up very well, the structure and clear coat. The hood not so much. The construction of both the hood and fenders is near excellent but the clear coat on the hood has disappeared in some spots. I was thinking maybe it was the cover rubbing on it but I haven't had it covered yet this year. As you can see in the pics, it's only where there is a sharp curve that the clear coat is gone and I'm worried it will damage the carbon fibers. For that reason I'm going to have the hood and fenders repainted clear with a percentage of black so the cf isn't as noticeable but still present.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Was your hood 'actually' clear coated or just raw gel coat? If you are wearing close to the fibers maybe the gel coat itself has broken down? Did you ever apply any polish or wax/sealant?

This Trucarbon hood was clear coated on top and gel coated underneath. I have waxed the hood and taken care of it since I installed it. You can probably see some wax residue on the photos.
I don't know if I'm close to the fibers but I'm not taking any chances so I'm going to have it redone soon.

I have a CF hood as well. It does indeed look like it has worn down in spots like you indicated. Maybe their wasn't enough clear applied in those places. I've seen that a few times.

Thanks for this post.
A lot of folks post when they get a new addition for their car, but then you never hear how that works out.
At one point I was looking at this hood in case I needed a replacement for mine (which is no longer made) so this is good info!
