CDC ducktail(sorry it won't let me post pix)
:IMO, the Street Scenes one looks waaaay better because it is taller and has the 3rd brake light integrated onto it. At least now I know what spoiler to get when I get my car. The other choice for me besides the CDC version was the one from Westrenz, but after seeing yours, I think it (Westrenz) looks more tacked on. Thanx again Mike!
Mike a couple of questions for ya if you don't mind indulging me.
--> will it be available in the factory colors or just blank?
--> How secure is the fixation using the Tape?
--> Any chance they will be able to hold the tri-bar pony ala the CDC or is the angle to sharp?
--> Do you have any close ups of the piece that is closest to the bumper?
--> Any plans to do a mach up of the one that is on the GT500 showcar?
Thank you so much, I am just about ready to order your part, just bein a lil finnicky.
Thanks again!
Dave

Dave- The ducktail will only be available in black urethane to start. We have talked about offering both the louvers and wings in colors, but it will be a while before we can offer that edition. We use 3m brand tape. We have tried other brands but have found the 3m red tape to be the best. It works very well- our door fillers on the side skirt kit are held on with 3M tape. If you really clean the area of urethane first by sanding it and then soap and water clean it, it should stick just fine. Street Scene makes about 450 diffrent part numbers in urethane for diffrent vehicles and we use the 3M tape on every part number. With regards to the CDC pony, from what I can tell, the CDC ducktail has an indent where the pony would go. Ours does not have this so the pony would stick out. Again 3m thin tape would work to hold the pony but it would stick out. Ill have to get some close up photos of the bumper to wing tomorrow if time permits. Im going to drive the stang in tomorrow. On Saturday, its going to be used for the Meguiars awards which will be shot for Car Crazy/Speed Vision so at the worst, Ill get photos on Monday for you. Ill have a close look at the GT500 show car but we always try to do something a little diffrent. We will offer a Gen 2 deck wing at some point but not till late summer. The plan is to make a deck wing that will cover the holes in the truck when you remove the wing. Something like the Roush, or Saleen but a diffrent shape and style. Hope this answers all your questions. If not, write back!
Here is one sort of 3/4 front shot. Ill try to get a better one later. I dont know if you have seen last months issue of 5.0 Mustang but if you have, its on the cover with a feature article inside the magazine. ( no ducktail on it for that photo shoot)
Wow. Glad I asked this question when I did. Seems like good timing.
Mike - I can't thank you enough for all the great shots. It really helps.
A couple questions:
Mike - are the optional screws for all three part of the spoiler?
Anyone - I haven't put anything like this on a car before. Street Scene's spoiler is urethane, CDC's is fiberglass - what are the pros/cons to the materials?
Thanks again Mike. Great stuff. My car is on its way to San Diego now and I would love to bring it up and show you the tail on a vert.

Moze- the optional screws will be for all three pieces. My orange stang does not have the screws in it right now. Im going to see if it will hold up without the screws. I could give you my opinion about urethane vrs fiberglass but Im bias and would sound like a salesman- I dont want to do that on this forum. Ill wait to see if others give you their opinion first. If your in the area, our shop is in Costa Mesa near John Wayne airport. Stop by any time. We cant sell you directly as we are a wholesale manufacturer only but your welcome to fit one on your stang and see if you like it..

So, does anyone have any input on pros and cons for fiberglass and urethane? If not, I would love to hear what you've got to say Mike. I can take it as the reasoning behind Street Scene's decision to go with urethane.
Wowowow, that looks excellent. I didn't like the CDC one because it was too short, but this looks about right. One question though: how sturdy is it with just the tape? I just have pictures in my head of flying down the highway and looking in the rear view mirror only to see my ducktail rip off from the wind
*EDIT* Just saw that this question was addressed already. That's what I get for not reading the whole thread before posting...

Well then Ill give you my opinion on urethane. We actually do make some parts in fiberglass but the majority of Street Scene products are in urethane. Fiberglass is very rigid. If you have a fiberglass front end on a vehicle, it will crack the first time you hit a parking cement block, curb or anything big on the road. Fiberglass is also inconsistent. One part to the next can change because its hand laid fiberglass so thickness, consistency etc can change. Last but not least, from a manufacturing standpoint, you can only make about 2 to 3 pieces per day per mold. The advantages of fiberglass are price and it’s ridged. You might want something to be ridged in certain applications. (Keep it clean guys!) It’s also easy to build a fiberglass mold and just about anyone with manufacturing experience can make a mold. The advantages of urethane are that it will take the knocks and come back for more. The OE’s use urethane in the production of front ends, bumpers etc because it will bend and not break. If urethane is painted correctly, you can just about fold it in two and not peel or crack the paint. You can hit a parking block and while you might scratch the part, you won’t crack or break it. (Within reason) Urethane is consistent. Every part will be the same every time because it’s a liquid that is poured into a mold. Urethane manufacturing is tricky and it takes some experience to make it right. It’s more expensive to make a mold but you get more units of production per day out of urethane. It’s a more costly product because it’s tied to oil and oil prices. The only disadvantage that I can honestly say is that if you don’t know how to prep and paint it, it will peel and do other weird things to the paint. Overall in my opinion, urethane is the way to go weather you purchase Street Scene, Roush, Saleen, Xenon, 3D carbon or other urethane manufacturers.

Ill try to get some more photos out today. The car is being detailed for a couple of shows this weekend. If it gets done soon Ill get some shots. As far as production, it was going to start today but I want to make one more small change so it will probably start on Monday. You can put your pre-orders in to any Street Scene distributor. You might want to try Muscle Car Direct, California Mustang or Streetbeatcustoms. If you want to know of any other distributors, call our customer service department at 888 477 0707.
