Right (on the pictures / patents),

But like I said, you will be happy with them I think. They look really nice, and the fit and finish is up to our usual standards - excellent. We have accomodated the arcs of the trunk on the backside, the keyhole, all of it.

As a matter of fact, I didn't even need to use new tape on our piece - the fit is so good the OEM emblem tape is enough to hold it - actually I tried to remove it and I couldn't !!

We need to get some sloppier fitting parts - all this high preceision stuff is for the birds

Soon. I've been sick for a couple days and have to catch up on stuff... as soon as I can get the paperwork off and back we'll be posting. Anyway there are some minor things that are being changed / added to a couple of the designs to make them even better for production, so the prototypes I have are not 100% accurate of the finished products.

Have faith - I know the wait is hard, but there are reasons we remain quiet now prior to release....

The taillight bezel is a prime example (oh yeah, and the start of this thread originally)

Stangnut brought to my attention a new version of plastic lenses on Ebay, which I looked at and decided to buy a set to see how they stack up. They arrived today.

Pros:

From directly behind the car or from a slight angle they look really nice, and the fit to the existing lens is good. The look is 80% of what we were looking to acheive with our part in terms of depth and detail.

Cons:

Made overseas from what I can tell (no markings anywhere, not even on packaging). No directions or contact info either, although I guess if you have a question about how to install them... still - it would've been nice.

Tape does not appear to be 3M brand or quality.

Even WITH the honeycomb panel installed, the edge is visible where they meet up with the trunk - so it definitely looks "stuck on" rather than part of the car.

That said, they still look a lot better than the "flat" bezels out on the market, and they fit better too. So the question becomes, would our product still fit in the market at a higher price point (due to materials, cost of manufacture here in the US, etc) or does this piece effectively take the market share since it is priced in-between the current solution and where we figured our price would have to be to be fair to everyone?

Decisions, decisions...

Speaking strictly for myself which certainly would not justify a Go/No Go decision for you - I would be willing to pay for the type of quality regarding fit/finsih you guys produce. The rear is a key focal point IMO for the car.

Ranger, thanks, I do appreciate it.

That said, I'm going to take some close up pictures of the two and post them up for everyone to see. You will be able to see what I see, as well as some of what we've talked about both in email and in this thread as to the direction we want to take with it.

Some of our design features we are working with yet another supplier that may be able to do what we want. This is the project that will never end !! Maybe we'll still play after all

Speaking of play - if you have kids that can sit through a movie (or even if you don't) - you will enjoy "Cars" the movie. I just got back from it with my son, and it was great - I was laughing throughout the movie, and it finally gave personalities to the very things I knew had them all along.

I personally would pay a bit more, not too awful much mind you, for a piece that is made in the USA. I would pay more again for a piece that looks great and looks like it belongs on the car and for a piece that compliments the panel also, as yours definatly would. So, if you are looking for potential customers for the bezels, I am interested. As for the emblem, I will need to see pics before I can say yes or no, I like the stock one, but there is room for improvement.
I am still watching and patiently waiting....

So, are we awaiting pics of the new rear badge, or the taillight bezels. I want both, in black, and I'll order those and the fuel door as soon as all are available.

If you need the taillight bezels now, I'd say call Moss (they are one of our dealers now too), because we're still in a state of flux with the bezels. When ours come out, if you like them better, you can always remove and EBay the current ones. I don't want anyone not happy with the back of their car because we're dragging on getting this particular part out to market.

The center rear pieces should be available in acouple more weeks. Material arrived at the beginning of the week, and parts are in production now. Then off to anodize / plating, then back for assembly, checkout, packaging, and then ready to go.

Got any teaser pics of the rear center pieces yet? I am really curious as to what you have done with them. Or at least a photoshop or something to give us an idea like you did with the panel.
Thanks

Scott,

Just hold on tight. It's within a couple weeks now to completed production parts, so we're close.

/poker face on/

A hint - my "other" car is one that I've had since I was 15. (and no I'm not that old yet... although I feel like I'm getting there some days!)

That's all I'm saying.
