I really like the idea of a satin panel. My car is being done in a "Stealth Jet" type theme, where there will be nothing too shiny. That's why I am so interested in the black anodized peices that Silver Horse is doing.
I really need a smooth satin-finish black panel to get what I'm looking for.
I'm pretty sure the choice of honey-comb or smooth, would go over well with the SilverHorse customers.
Ok, I just didn't want my humor to be lost.
While I do know a bit about polymers, plastics, and resins, I cannot create peices. Maybe call SilverHorse directly? I do know that if it were something that was decided to do, it takes a LONG time to go from a good idea to saleable product. Prototyping, molds, quality assurance, production, packing/shipping, and re-doing the QA section every X%, it takes a long time, and I left out many of the smaller steps.
Oh, and you may be well-off getting that panel painted to get a semi-flat look on it.

Umm, I don't have any pictures of brushed on Silver, but we do have brushed on a few other colors. A lot of customers opt for the black on silver cars.
The black anodized should give the look you are after Infinity, but on the honeycomb panel - that's a non-starter. The cost in devloping another "version" of the panel is prohibitive given the projected volume of sales. We went through this in the original Honeycomb thread, and it was decided to go with the "mix" we have now, where the edges and top surfaces are polished, and the inset is sandblast etched. To make a current panel "satin" would require only a light scuffing of the glossy areas and spraying it with a matte or satin black paint. We don't use mold release in our production specifically for customers who decide they might want to paint our product to accent or offset the look on thier car.
As to the jokes, yeah, we are just trying to keep it a little upbeat - the BASF one just is true in this case, because there were other plastics we could have used that were similar, but none we found were better, and I felt that the increased cost of going with BASF over the no-name stuff was worth it to insure a quality, long-life product.
(Unlike my sunpass clip for the windshield that just crumpled yesterday from UV wear)
Oh and finally, there already is a smooth satin panel on the market - it's made by CDC. While we never were able to come to a sales agreement for eachother's products, we do send one another business - this may be a viable option for you, although their piece is ribbed, not smooth.
