....some dude driving down my street saw the bumper, slammed his brakes and came back to the house and wanted the check out hte "Shelby"

Get used to it. It's happened to me dozens of times. I've already lost track of how many times I've been yelled at (positive comments), given the thumbs up, been approached in parking lots, etc.....

The only issue I have with this is the moral dilema I face -- whether to tell them the truth or "let it ride". I find that with people I'll never see again, I "let it ride" and let them believe they've seen an original.... For people I know, I tell them it's a "GT custom" with OEM Shelby parts.

Dude, OKALCOP and I were 2 of the first ones to do this and I think we can both tell you stories like that. My PM box on each board is almost full becuase of this. People love the look, but I tell them straight up that it is a GT. I'm not trying to play it off as Shelby, i just liked to bumper.

2l8, I Just Pm'd You. I Hope It Went Through. I Just Want To Know What Im Looking At For Paint On Front Bumper Cover? Do We Need New Hardware To Make Cover Fit The Mustang Or Can We Use Existing Hardware From Our Own Gt Bumper? I Know We'll Need 14 Bolts To Make The Splitter Fit The Bottom Of Bumper Since Our Cars Dont Currently Have One Now, But What Else? Any And All Help Will Be Appreciated.

2L8, I got my parts finally and Im getting geared up for the install. First I goota paint the bumper. Anymore tips on install I should know other than the fantastic instructions you already posted? I read somewhere we need to rivet the headlights also. Is there any truth to that? Im just trying to picture where and how. I did not see that part in your instructions. Sorry to bug you but would greatly appreciate your help since youve done it already. Thanks.

Hey man, you car is sweet!!! I love the wheels on that color. At any rate there is no truth to rivoting the headlights, just the turnsignal bracket from the bumper.

Have fun man and if you need help let me know!! I just helped with another one last weekend for Jay Tucker of JLT True Cold Air

Thanks for the compliments. Im sure we will be bugging you a bit more. We are actually doing 2 cars, my yellow and the black one in the back of my avatar. When he comes back from vacation next week we will take our bumpers to paint and install the weekend after. Soon as they are done, we will send you pix.

1.) Yes, the shelby brackets stick out a little farther

2.) You can engineer the GT ones to work but hte Shelby ones are recommended. They are really V6 Inner fender wells.

Enjoy
Jess

2L8, Great info. Your machine looks awsome. Being a lover of the Satin Silver GT, you now have me hungry for more modifications. I like the Shelby bumpers but was thinking of going with a hood that matches the concept version more closely with the dual ram air opennings. KC I will be emailing you soon for parts list. No car payments on my 06, so now its time to continue the mods.

To the guys who want have questions about the radiator support bracket (NEXT TO THE HEADLIGHT) you can use your GT ones.
What youll be doing is swapping sides, Left on Right side and vice versa. You will have to shave down the locating bumps on the rear of the brackets because they wont fit since you will be putting them on the wrong side. Then you will have to cut a small portion off the landing areas on the top of brackets to accomodate the bumper. Once you do that the bumper top will rest on top of the bracket but you will see 2 opening on the bumper top. Use the hole that is a circle. Move the angled bumper piece between grille and light to where you think looks right and hold it there. When position is o.k. drill a starter hole in the middle of the circle opening into the bracket. Screw down with a washer big enough to hold the bumper top on the bracket and youre good. Repeat on the other side. Good luck and I hope I did'nt confuse the hell out of anyone. Once the car is apart and you get to this point, it will all make sense, trust me.

Thanks for the help on the brackets MELLOWYELLOW06 but I broke down and bought the Shelby ones as they are very cheap I also bought the inner splash shields also cheap. Hope I have everything now so I can start, by the way what did you do for the fog light wires.
