Angry removing stripes ughh

well i started to remove my 2 year old vinyl stripes today because i want to get them painted. It started off simple using the hair dryer, but i guess since it got a little colder during the evening it keeps on breaking into pieces ughhh help me im going insane any tips? or should i just wait for a hotter day?

I removed mine after about 2-3 months. Mine were peeling off by themselves, so it was pretty easy. From all the questions I asked on here, there was one common response...............heat up your garage or wait til a warm day. It will make life much easier.

the glue/adhesive that holds the strips is easy to remove or adhere when warm

It can be very difficult to get them off. Just keep on warming them up and peeling. Go for the edge as much as possible as you go around the stripe. then as you peel the chunks off you go to the next edge that was lifted. If there is no edge lifted you have to get it going again. there were a few areas where mine were hit with a buffer before i took them off and those were the hardest to get off.

Wait for a warm sunny day. And toss the hair dryer. You need a heat gun.

Heat gun

But be careful with the heat gun, otherwise it will damage your paint...

I had mine removed and being painted back on,They have what is called an eraser wheel. That works great but it is a slow process and very messy. See

yah vinyl stripes suck, they looked awesome at first, now after just a year or so they look crappy. I would recommend anyone who is thinking about doing, not too, and just hold out for the paint job. I was quoted not that much more to do the paint after I had already done the vinyl, i paid with labor about 650-700 bucks if I remember right, and the guys that did it told me later well we could paint them for about 1200, so just save your money and get the real deal. vinyl sucks.

I'm doing vinyl myself as "training stripes" to see how I like living with them. If they draw too much negative attention I'll peel them off and leave them off. If I really like them I'll go with paint.

Yeah I know, thus the genesis of this thread! I'm patient and persistent. I've removed other vinyl graphics in the past and had excellent success letting them get toasty warm in the sun, then following up with a heat gun as necessary.

Hmmmmm, that sounds like a real good idea,To late for me to try that but you should spread that word around. If anyone tries this let me know. The body shops would love an easier way
