rear window louver prop rod

I thought you would like to make a $5 prop rod to hold up your louvers while you clean the glass. I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of alum hollow tubing 3/8 X 3'. I stopped at Ace and got a small rubber tip. f When I got home I cut off 6" to get it to a shorter length, then I used a cutoff wheel and cut an 1/8" X 3/4 inch deep slot in one end. Take a small file and clean up the rough edges. This is the end that will fit over one of the aluminum rails holding all the louvers together. The other end gets the rubber tip that sits between the trunk edge and sits onto the glass.
See the pics attached. It's nothing fancy but it works and you can stash it in the trunk!!!!

Great idea! Is a PITA to hold those things up while you're cleaning. Just be careful on a windy day. LOL
I'll have to copy your idea.

Nice tip, great suggestion for the members who are running these exterior louvers.

Thanks for the tip, Larry! Guess I'll have to make one of those.

Not to get off topic but do you have any other pictures of your rear spoiler? I was thinking about doing the same thing. The spoiler is painted black right?

The spoiler is a Legend and I do NOT recommend it. It took about 12 hrs of work to get it to fit. A lot of bodywork for a BOLT ON. I use Duplicolor spray bed liner spray on the black surfaces. It is very durable and has a very small texture to it and it hardly visible (unlike most bed liner sprays)
I ordered it because it is basically an oversized GT500 spoiler and it looks great on the car. I get the most compliments on the spoiler and the mirrors, but would hate to see anyone have to go through all the work to make the Legend spoiler look right....... .

Naw I wasnt after the spoiler but more after the look of black spoiler contrast against another color. I've been thinking about doing a black spoiler for some time now.

Thanks for the pictures!
