Quarter Windows

I have been debating the quarter window louvers for some time now. There are alot of styles I like but Im skeptical. I dont like the idea of taping the things on. Couldnt someone just come by and rip them off? Also, I know that MRT makes ones that replace the actual windows. How are these applied? Are they a more permanent answer? I live in colorado and we are only allowed to have 27% tint. Would it be illegal to limo tint the quartes only? I mean if you can block them out with louvers anyway right?

Yes someone could come by and just rip off the louvers that are held on with 3M tape, but it would have to be an act of pure vandalism as they probably wouldn't be usable after that I've had the MRT louvers on my car for over 2 years (in the FL heat I might add) and they're still as rock solid using the original 3M tape that came with them
And, whoa, it most certainly is not MRT that makes the louvers that replace the windows, it's Silver Horse Racing - there's a thread here http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=39193 that details everything you'll need to know

Ok, I've to ask...

Wouldn't louvers be considered 100% tint? So limo tint would be a moot point then if they allow louvers.

I believe you're looking for these. See through, not stuck on. No need for tint.

Those are the ones! How is it installed and all that? Does it compromise any heat?

There's a minimal amount of heat coming in through those windows to begin with, and yes this would lessen it further.
As for all the info, click on the link Dave posted earler. All the info's there, including design pics and installation instructions.

The louvers you are discussing are SilverHorseRacing louvers. Many have added them and they actually have an install kit and the company will give you pointers on how to install.

I drove my car to Colorado for a week and no one "ripped off" my louvers. I have the CDC style and I must say that if I wanted to "hang" off of them I could and they wouldn't budge. I'm 260lbs.

That 3M stuff they use on the louvers holds most door trim on vehicles now days. You have a touch of it under your stock spoiler and with a knife it's still a 30 minute job to get that stuff cut off the spoiler.

the silverhorse racing quarter louvers replace the whole window, they are awesome to say the least, and they are actually already tinted. When they make them they are tinted in color from the resin they use. You will love them. Just goto silverhorseracing.com
