Powdercoat mufflers?

I painted the body of my mac mufflers black, but they chip and I have to repaint them about twice a year. Is it possible to just have the body of the mufflers powdercoated, leaving the tips shiny? Heat doesn't affect it because I know some people powdercoat valve covers.

It should be pretty easy to do since they just mask off the areas you don't want coated with a high-temp tape. Best bet is to find some local places in your area aand get quotes. If you find a place that does trailers etc they are usually pretty cheap.

Don't the mufflers get a lot hotter than valve covers though? I've painted my mufflers with header paint and it has stayed put for quite a while but header paint is designed for a lot hotter application.

They make high temp powdercoatings for mufflers and exaust pipes.Jet hot uses high temp ceramic coatings that take 1500 degree temps.Call a local shop you should be able to get it done. I did the paint so far so good.

i dont believe anything on a car gets hotter than a manifold/header or even a catalytic converter.

exhaust pipes wont get as hot.
