Stripes

My silver 05 GT is in the body shop as we speak ready for paint. ( I wasn't ready to choose a color yet, but someone backed into my car while it was parked ! )

They have been testing colors for me. I like a white with a slight greyish tint. Has anyone seen a white striped car in person... or better still own one and know which paint code looks best ? We will be using PPG products. I tried a Ford Pearl white, but the pearl seems to change colors dramatically with different lighting. Is there such a thing as a metallic white ? I have to go in tomorrow morning with a few more choices to test.

I saw some sharp examples on the spreadsheet, but am not sure which white they went with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I promise to post pics when finished !

Donna,
Someone on here (I can't remember who) has a satin silver with white stripes. They posted pics and should be on the spread sheet. I never would have thought about white on silver, but it looked very clean and very classy. What width are you going with and what width gap? I had my stripes painted a month and a half ago and I love em.

Great car ! I love the Tungsten with silver stripes. I am going with 10 inch stripe with a 2 inch gap. I saw the spread sheet, just didn't know there were so many whites to choose from ! This is my first mod. and I am worried about choosing the wrong color :-) I suppose I could have much bigger problems to worry about !

If you want White with a grayish tint try 98 Crystal White paint code is ZR, also under different names. Click on link in my sig to see if the color carries enough gray in it. Painter could always add a few drops of black to gray it extra.

Side note Dark Shadow Gray Stripes are also kickass on S/S.

I like the white with blue too :-) But my car is silver. Maybe the next one. I just got a test done in Glacier White. It has a gray tint to it so hopefully this is it ! I will go in later today to see the test shoot. The white pearl I picked changed in every light and would have made me crazy ! I am also looking into the Crystal white paint that Badsnke98 recommended.

Here we go !

Well Badsnke was right on, the Glacier white has paint code ZR and it definitely has a bit of gray in it. The other whites all looked to have yellow in them. The test stripe looked great so I gave them the go ahead. I don't know if I am allowed to mention the shop name but they have been great. They painted an entire old hood to test the spray-outs

I saw the car today all sanded down and naked. I took a few pics and will post when I find the camera cable. They were starting to lay out the stripes. Its amazing, they lay them out and then take off the hood, decklid, front and rear fascia.

Thanks to the many posters here and from way back before the car even arrived !

I think it looks great and my wife agrees. We also think a billet grille would be in order. We never really took a second look at Silver, but with the White it is really nice!

I used Performance White (which is the white used on new Mustangs) as the color of my stripes on my VB GT. I love that color white. Everyone sees it, and raves how it looks. This color would look great on your car.

Pictures of the new stripes

I am so happy to have my stripes This was a long decision... it was the look that I had in mind before the car even arrived in 2005. ( I had a 7month wait) Thanks to all who posted their pictures and for the spreadsheet so I could compare colors and sizes !
