open headlights

The one thing I really dislike about the looks of my GT, are the headlights. I like the open headlights on the Halibrand Twister, and on the Foose mustangs. Except both of those versions use the little blue "Eleanor" style light right next to the headlight.

I'd kill for a set of open headlights with body color around the lenses. And no ricey little blue light next to them. Any options, short of making my own?

I know the Halibrand Twister's are still not available. Haven't found out if Foose's are available to public. Anybody know?

Thanks.

I dont have the open headlights but I do have the buckets painted. Looks way better than stock IMO.

Foose's are actually built into the front bumper cover. You'ld have to convert to his whole front end treatment. Let me see if I've got a good pic of one ...

Yep, here's a closeup of the headlight.

What you're looking for is made by CDC but as of right now, they haven't started producing them, and I haven't heard anything about plans to do so. It really annoys me because they keep putting them on all of their show cars.

I completely agree, and can only assume that some insightful aftermarket company sees this opportunity. I'd really like a painted to match headlight bucket w/o the lense.

Yep.

If you take the cover off, it leaves a gap where the cover was and looks terrible. Take close up look at your headlight buckets and try to imagine how it would look without the clear plastic in there.

For it to look good, some aftermarket company would have to make a whole new bucket. However, since it would be a hugely popular mod that would be extremely easy to develop and manufacture, it probably won't ever get made.

These pics kind-of show how bad it looks. Believe me, it looks even worse in person.

First pic is the original size. Second pic is an enlargement.

Hey Jason -

Saw your post and couldn't resist since I tried to get a good pic showing my problems with it that day.....

[and gee - look at all the crap that gets in there with no cover on the headlights.....]

Now THAT'S a close-up.
Dam. Wish I would've remembered you took that pic. I spent like 30 minutes looking for a decent pic online.

What's that one in January you guys kept talking about? It's supposed to be pretty big, isn't it? That's the one I was thinking about going to. What other shows would you recomend? (And don't even think about telling me about any of them that are in the middle of summer!)

Silver Springs is first weekend in January - that's the one we talked about the most. Other than that, Dave mentioned two 'events' - Fun Ford weekend in Orlando and NMRA at Bradenton - both in March....
