Sorry everyone. About every other weekend I travel to my fun stuff getaway in our north country. There's a 10Km stone road leading into it from the main highway. I've seen ALL the nasty posts about mudflaps but I had to do it.

So, here's a pic with them on for anyone worried about how they'd look. Not too bad at all I think! They were painted by the body shop, perfect match and perfect fit, no drilling (they mount in existing holes), almost looks like they were made for it. Well....not really but close enough. They're staying!!!!

Just an FYI for anyone considering them.

Mark.

Why just the rear? I would be more worried about stones from the front wheels.

Not sure about them being painted body color . . . it's different anyway.

Sonic - none available from Ford yet for the front (I guess those little things from the factory are supposed to do something). But thanks for being "gentle" about the look - you're a good guy! I know they're not for everyone.

Viper - they're from the 05 Mustang Accessories book, a little pricey but what the heck, they fit nice and I agree (and so does the hyper critical neighbor of 2004 GT vintage)........they look pretty cool!

I like em. They don't look Subaru Impreza rally carish !! Which is a good thing. not to be negative but it's just not my style.

Anyone experiencing paint damage in specific areas of the front fenders or rear quarter panels? I want to install paint protection in problem areas.

Not a big fan but they do look better than I imagined. Under the circumstances though I would have done exactly the same thing.

Sometimes you need to make compromises to protect your car.

I was thinking about mud flaps too till I did some web surfing and found the untilmate paint protectiuon. Clear 3M paint protection film sold by numourus sites on the web. Heres one site X-Pel http://www.xpel.com/products/paint.asp
The stuff goes on clear, stays clear, you can wash and wax it and it protects the paint from rocks and bugs and it has UV protection also. Cant beat that with mud fplas or nose bras. Im going to get it for the bumper and front end and get some for the areas behind each wheel also. You cant even see the stuff unless you get real close to it. Ill put some pics up when I get it done.

I HATE any kind of things like that on the GT, BIGTIME.......... :notnice:

BUT

If you live in an area where they will really protect your car.......

Crap if they are practical and work and keep STONES off your car.....

Heck, use 'em bro - I'll back ya on 'em.

Protect the St ang!

I like the idea of mudflaps, but to paint them would take away from the look of the rear tires themselves.

At least you do not have a Tasmanian Devil painted on them.

Don't feel bad. I got some too. I can't bear to see another paint job ruined by rock chips. I also added some to the front. Because Ford doesn't sell front's yet I bought some cheap ones from auto zone and fit them to the car. Kinda hard to see the fronts, but they are on there. I left mine flat black though.
