Where are you located? Are you looking for an all season tire or something else?

Yes, you can get wider tires on the stock 17x8 wheels. The size you want to look for is 255/50-17. This will keep the overall diameter the same as your stock tires so your speedometer and odometer won't be off, but give you almost an inch wider tire. Nitto makes several tires in this size that people have reported liking, and Kumho has the SPT (summer performance) and ASX (all-season) which are both pretty decent for what they are. I had the SPT's on my Bullitt and they were a decent all around tire, great in the rain and pretty good in the dry, and not terribly expensive.

Yes, 255/50/17 would probably be your best choice.

Considered upgrading to 18's or 20's?

I had Kumho ASX tires in 255x50x17 on my 06, then upgraded to 18's and once again went with the Kumho ASX. I am very pleased with them.

im running nitto invo 255/50-17 all around ...love them, great for daily driving, lots of grip, great feedback, nice meaty look, and will never look back at the oem pirellis.

only one minor quibble: the soft sidewalls. you will notice it at a certain speed on sharp turns...
