Well I guess it sucks that it's not all original. It somewhat bothers me that there is body filler. Things like replacing the hood don't bother me. However the end result was so good that I feel much better about the whole thing. The work has a lifetime warranty. I really don't expect slabs of filler to be falling off.

It's really better that the body shop retained the original structure without having to replace major body sections the like quarter panels and roof.

It really isn't much different than restoring an old Mustang which has been battered, worn and over the years. Most of the time you still have to fill and refinish things, and replace parts where needed. A restored car is no less desireable if done right. They still bring high resale value in a properly restored condition. Sure it's always nice to find something all original that has been stored in a vaccum for decades.

Anyway, long term value is not on my mind at the moment. I plan to have my car for a very long time.

Yeah, I think where body filler goes wrong is when it is used to "treat" perforation. In your case it is just straightening.

Nothing like a slab of bondo falling off while you are driving down the road!

I remember being mortified when I discovered that my 1989 Thunderbird which I had bought used had a thick slab of bondo that suddenly started seperating in the RH quarter panel next to the door. One day I happened to be replacing the RH speaker in the rear inside quater panel and discovered a mess of repair inside the quarter panel.
