GT body parts on V6?

Is it possible (read as difficult) to fit GT front and rear bumper covers on a V6 mustang? I'm looking for the more aggressive front end, and the ability to run dual mufflers on my car.

Is there any modifications to the parts necessary to make them fit? I know that a GT front fascia requires a GT grill insert (which is fine, cause that's what I'm looking for).

Also, do the GT's and V6 with the pony package use the same fog lamps? Not the actually lamp holders, but the bulbs themselves. I have the pony package on my car, and hoping I don't need to do anything with wiring.

Thanks.

The reat bumper will fit with no modifications at all, and the front will fit with no modifications as long as you get the grill with fog lights. I am not sure about the actual lamps, I would think that they are going to be different. But at least you don't have to swap out the wiring harness for the fog lamps which would cost more than getting new bulbs anyways.

Hey there,

Even if you ended up needing new lamps - you dont have to get them from the dealer. We sell the Street Scene Mustang GT Driving lights:

Hope this helps some

If you want a GT grille with the fog lamps in it, PM me. I don't have the harness, but am willing to sell the stock grille with lamps.

I installed the V6 Pony grill and lamps in my GT. Wiring and head/foglight switch are the same, but the actual bulbs are different (GT's are brighter). I kept the V6 bulbs in the V6 lamps, and kinda miss the brighter light put off by the GT lights.

The fender liners are different between GT's and V6's due to the different curve of the front bumper corners ahead of the wheels. Installing a GT bumper cover on a V6 will leave a small gap between the fender liner and the wheel well lip - not really noticable unless you know to look for it. Installing a V6 bumper cover on a GT would require trimming the fender liner down to fit. Or, buy new fender liners for either swap.

Also, be sure to swap the styrofoam insert from the top of the bumper (they are just under the bumper cover, but on top of the bumper itself and are embossed with "V6" or "GT" and are different heights to account for the different grill openings).

Thanks for all the information from everyone.

I've read there are some extra parts that are ideal to put on when swapping the front fascia, most of which are behind the scenes parts (retainers, bracing, foam spacer, and the wheel well skirting). Most likely, if I do decide to do the conversion (read as if I can come up with the money), I'll definitely get those parts as I want to do the conversion correctly.

Does anyone know of a good way to sell all the parts that would be coming off my car? Basically it would be all the parts going on. Entire front fascia, grille insert, rocker panels (if I'd decide to put the painted ones on or leave my flat black ones), rear bumper cover, and probably the muffler (not as important as the body parts).

If I was sure I could sell all those parts for around $350 to help cover the cost of the new stuff, it would make the decision much easier.

Again, I appreciate all the input. It will definitely make the swap much smoother

One other thing. I read on another forum that you can use the pony package wiring harness with the GT fog lamps using an adapter. Does anyone know what for adapter this might be?

I put the GT front fascia and grille on my car last year. My father and me did it in my garage in about an hour and it was very easy. I contacted KC (05StangKC) here on the forums about extra parts I would need to install the bumper (like the wheel liners, etc.) and he gave me a list of what I would need and sent me all the stuff. I think it costed about $60 for all the little extra things necessary. Im about to install a GT500 rear bumper and again I got the info on all the little extra parts needed to install from KC (which came out to about $30...I think). Id say just give KC a pm with any questions on what other parts are needed.

I gave my GT grill and foglamps to the V6 owner that gave me his Pony grill and foglamps, and I installed my GT fog lamps in his V6 for him. No adapter needed and the lights work just fine.

Ok....well I have all the GT takeoff parts. I need to get all the extra parts needed to put the front fascia on. Thanks for all the input, and I'll post back with the results when I get it on (waiting for some warmer weather so things won't be so brittle).

Oh, and I tried to PM 05StangKC and it wouldn't allow it. Gave me a message saying either the user isn't accepting PM's or isn't permitted to receive PM's.....

I guess back to the drawing board on the extra parts.

Hmm...thats kind of strange about the PM thing. Try posting a message here: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/forumdisplay.php?f=700 Thats his own personal section of TMS and hes usually very good about answering posts/messages on there.

You need to email him at clevparts@aol.com for all parts requests. I have called him and placed orders over the phone with him also, but I have done business through eBay with him so he just pulled up my info from before. Try the email method first.

Yep, I did that over the weekend Tungsten Bullitt. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Hopefully it'll warm up soon, and I can get the parts I need to do the conversion. I'll try to remember to take before and after shots.

You know you don't have to have a GT Bumper for duals. You can cut a notch out on the left side. Many V6 owners have done that including me.

I'm not that skilled with working on body parts to cut out that notch. I'm not so much worried about the back end as the front. But the kit that I got came with everthing, front/rear fascias, painted rocker panels, and the GT take off mufflers. Since I have the part, I'll put it on and see if I can't sell all my takeoff parts to a body shop or something. At least recover some of the money spent, hopefully.

If anyone knows where I could get some V6 rocker panel take-offs...let me know. Also, will they fit a GT?

They fit - direct swap - but you will likely break a couple of the plastic push-pins that hold them on (but they are readily available at most auto parts stores for a few bucks).

Don't know where to buy the V6 rockers, though, other than the Ford dealership - sorry.

MSGTGT, I'm getting ready to do the GT conversion (ordered the $550 kit from casco this past monday), I'll be taking off my V6 rockers. I planned on selling them on ebay, but PM me if you are interested.

If anyone else is interested in any other parts, I also have the pony package grill, front fascia w/ slight damage (thanks to the tiger... I mean cat that ran in front of me), rear fascia, and V6 muffler.

Also, Spartan did a good write up of the GT bumper installs here.

I also found these diagrams which should be helpful for those looking to do the swap:

Well...I sent you an email. Your PM function doesn't work for me for some reason.
