Going back from HID to Halogen
Hello Guys...
I own a 2008 Mustang... with HID Head Lamps . Unfortunatly here in F....ing Germany those Headlamps are forbidden on public roads /streets. So I need to go back to to the "Original" Halogen headlamps with the 9008 bulbs.
Today I ordered a set of Headlights... ( aftermarket ) and I would like to know if the "step back " to Halogen is P+P or do I have to change some more parts ?
Any advise is welcome
Greetings Juergen

Most likely your stock headlight connectors are plugged into the HID ballasts (look for small boxes that plug into your HID bulbs) and all you have to do is disconnect them and plug them directly into your halogen bulbs.
Do you have any pics of your HID setup? What headlight housings did you have? I'm assuming they have a problem with aftermarket HID headlights and not stock ones because a lot of cars use xenon bulbs now.

I'm guessing someone retrofit HID bulbs into the original reflectors that are designed for halogen bulbs, which is quite obnoxious for oncoming drivers, and that is why it is forbidden. If that is the case then reversing it should be pretty easy, just like Cavero outlined.
If they actually changed out the housings/reflectors/lenses for the HID's then it is going to be a bigger job.

As I told you, My 2008 Mustang came from the factory with HID Head lamps. So everything is bone stock. But because of the "German law " the police here told me that THIS TYPE of Xenon Light is forbidden here. So the only possibility I have, is to change the headlamp Assy ( both sides ).the connector looks the same...but he HID lamps do not switch of the low beam...when using high beams. So in this case, if I use the high beams for a longer period of time, the heat will destroy the assy, because the low beamers donīt switch off while switching on the high beamers
So my idea right now.. I need to use two relays...that shut off the low beam while using the high beam and vise versa..

You should still trace back the wiring from the bulbs and look for ballasts and what connectors are going into the ballasts. You definitely don't want to plug that HID connector directly into a halogen bulb with all the extra voltage a HID ballast puts out, you'll need to use the 12V dc feed that's powering the ballast.
I'm willing to bet Ford used the normal headlight connector to feed the ballast, so you could probably unplug it from the ballast and plug that into the headlight, but I would need to see to be sure.
What law are you talking about? Just about every Audi, BMW, and Mercedes comes stock with HID. Audi even has freaking laser headlights in Europe.

Hi Cavero
about the Xenons... (HID). The "law " here is against foreign stuff - if you would like to register a car from the states... thatīs where the drama starts. RED Turn signals ? NO WAY ! Must be amber here
.... HID ? NO WAY ! Must be German style head llamps.... with the famous " PRÜFZEICHEN "... TUV approved CAT EYES ( aka Reflectors ) ...The Mustang has them in the tail lights... but the is no "GERMAN SIGN " on them... so you have to install the right ones ... looks awful
So yesterday I ordered a set of Head lights from "Fordpartsgiant". lookin forward now to get them in 1-2 weeks. Then I will take your advise to look for the switched 12 V source... to operate them. Yesterday I also recived a complete workshop manual for the 2008 Mustang -including the wiring diagram book
So right now I am learning to look for the right cables
