FRPP Cam Covers Installed....Pics....
So I ended up going with the black powder coated FRPP Cam Covers. The kit from FRPP is very complete, including new gaskets, bolts, oil filler neck, and two variable camshaft timing oil control solenoid plugs....
On the technical side of things, if you go with powder coated covers, make sure you check the groove on the bottom side of the cam cover where the rubber gasket snaps in and seals. On one of my covers, the powder coating had run into the groove, and did not allow the gasket to seat properly. The overrun can be chipped or scraped out, but this is something you want to find BEFORE the install, which I was lucky enough to. Also, be sure to re-apply a dab of Permatex on both sides, top and bottom, where the engine head meets the timing cover. You will see the factory applied permatex when you remove the OEM cam covers....
