Just because your state requires two plates doesn't mean you have to put the front one on. I live in WA and we are required to have front plates but I haven't had mine on in almost 3 years and got pulled over once for it, but he didn't give me a ticket. I personally think that any car looks a LOT cleaner without a front plate whether it is a '05 mustang or my '02 jetta. B)

yep, i dont have them on either of my cars. i just keep them in the space inbetween the passenger seat and console. gotten puuled over twice and the cop didnt even mention it. and if i get a ticket for it oh well its worth it not to put holes in the front bumper

More info on Texas law. It does not specify how the plate is to be displayed "at the front", so I guess you could put it on the dash. Half of the car is technically the "front."

Transportation Code Chapter 502

§ 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the
person operates on a public highway during a registration period a
passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two
license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle, that have
been:
(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by the
department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.

...

(e) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor
punishable by a fine not to exceed $200.

Why do some states require a plate in front? I live in Florida, a one plate state, don't cops pull people over in two plate states from behind as well?

Here in Illinois( lets all say it the french way..."illy-nwa" ) you are required to have two plates, but I know several guys who have attached it to the passenger side vanity mirror-thingy(brain block on the actual name), and they have some, ahem, 'riced' cars...no tickets as of yet

I think some states just want the extra dough for a piece of tin

And about the LIDAR, you need a shiny place to reflect the laser beam off of, on a black car, that beam would be sucked in and not reflected(unless you wax like a maniac )
