Flat Black (Help)

I own a 07 GT/CS and am doing the flat black hood and deck lid and was wondering if there is anything specific i need to do to take care of the Flat black, I just got the deck lid back from the paint shop and the finish is excellent but when i wipe it down it leaves streaks on it, and the paint shop isnt sure what to do, main guy tells me just wash with soap and water and dont wax the other tells me to wax.
Any help would be great.

Depends what kind of paint they used. I was watching the guy on DIY a while back. He did rear panel of a '66 and used a specific kind of paint. He called it "hot rod" black and I think it was VHT or Duplicolor. At any rate, you could get wax on it, then wipe it off without any residue staying on the paint.

Dont know if this helps...

When I had the middle section of my hood painted black, I wanted a satin look (like the wiper blades, etc), so it was not clear coated. Have had it almost 3 years. I found what works best for me is just washing. The first year when I waxed it, etc, it was a real PIA regarding streaks - never seemed to get rid of them. Would recommend you use a good car wash solution that won't leave a residue

You may want to check detailing sites like http://www.autopia.org. They are obsessive with clean cars. I'm sure if you lurk a bit, you'll get some good info.

dont wax it if you want to keep that flat black look; if its waxed it will take a while to get back to the flat black look and may streak

thanks for the advice, I took a stab at it and just washed it with soap and water and dried with a microfiber towel and turned out just fine.
