Prepping the hood, A LOT of work to get the CS6 front fascia to fit correctly plus the CDC grille modified to work with it, prep and paint the Foose rockers and rear spoiler, prep GT/CS rear fascia, sand and paint center console, full sanding smooth of car and then 4 coats base with 3 coats of clear, then full wet sand of entire car and re-assemble ended up being 6K+. Seeing the amount of work gone into it and the fact that everytime I go there there's high end cars on the lot, these guys know what they're doing and will give me that show car finish I want. May be costly, but to me it's worth it.

You think about it thats not that bad. I paid $600 just to have my hood done. And then you figure what other people to have strips painted and thats not anywhere near as much work as this.

I think its money well spent.

I'll be making an update later this evening. The hood is suppose to be out of the booth this afternoon, so I'll stop by and snap some pics.

I do have an emergency though. The place that I original bought my side stripe from was forced by Ford to no longer make it. I've contacted Rob at Baltimore Street Mods about making one, and have had a few emails back and forth from him, but haven't since early last week. I need to put this on this weekend, so need one made ASAP. Does anyone know of ANYONE who can make a custom side stripe? I have the font and the GT logo that they can use to mock up a replica. I plead for anyone to help me out here.

Thanks,
-danny

Good news and bad news....

First the good news... I'll be picking it up tomorrow. After 5+ weeks, I'll have it back, kinda... it's going to upholsterers for a few days to get outfitted with red carpet, and two tone seats.

The bad news...

The hood is crap... bubbles between the gelcoat and the fiberglass has created a few penny sized bubbles. They worked on it but there's nothing they can do at this point. Guess I'll be saving for a GTS-3, and get it done over the summer.

Well... I'll post pics tomorrow of it all put together.

Hummmmm........I dont understand why they cant fix the hood. All you gotta to is use a pop that bubbles, peel off all the dry gelcoat, make the nice and clean, fill it and sand it down....
Fiberglass is lots of work, thats why not too many body shops like to work on glass....

google fiberglass repair...there are tons of links on there.

They can fix it but the cost probably wouldn't warrant it.

The rest of the car looks awesome though like black glass. You should have had them fill in the antenna hole though. I hate that thing on my car.

Do you think you're going to have better luck with the GTS hood? I've seen just as much complaints about the Truefiber hoods that their discouraging as well. Why it it so difficult to come across a quality fiberglass hood such as what Cervinis puts out. Your car is looking awesome by the way. I've actually considered doing the CS6 hood as well but now I may have to give that some more thought.

And we're off....

...to the upholsterer.

So I snapped pics as it came out of the garage. The red stripe on the rocker panel will be back. Bob White Decals came up with a design close to the original. Thanks Bob!

So on to the pics... any white you see isn't scratches, it's polish they wiped off after I pointed it out.

Overall I highly recommend New Concepts in Plano, TX. They went above and beyond to get this put together. I don't feel the hood issue is theirs, as if they try and get it worked out and more pop up later, then they'd be responsible for them as well, and be out $ reworking it. I will talk to a fiberglass shop and Trufiber to see what can be done.

Pics are bigger this time...

The grille needs to be tweaked as it sits low on the passenger side

Well, hopefully I'll get it back Friday from the upholsterer's and be able to start putting in my interior bling and clean the heck out of it for the AER show on 5/3 in Carrollton, TX.

Does the front bumper have a dip in the middle of it?

I have to inspect the front bumper more closely when I get it back, but I do believe some of that is a result of the passenger side of the grille being lower. I'll know more on Friday I hope. Since the center of the grille extends outward in the center, I think that with that combined with it being lower on the passenger side creates the illusion of a warp.
