Question Fender Emblems

I'll be getting a 2009 GT soon and I'm personally not too fond of the 45th Anniversary Pony Logo. I'm assuming that this logo has the same holes in the fender so that I can fit the GT logo in place.

My question: Has anyone tried taking the GT logo and painting it? Either the body color or an alternate color. I'm curious if anyone has tried this and if there are any pics of it.

I was thinking of picking up 4 GT emblems from newtakeoff.com and experiment with a set once I get the 2009. What do you guys think?

I really like the look of that, it looks slick against the red. I'm getting a Black GT, so I was wondering on how a black GT logo would log against the black body, borrowing the black against black idea of the GT/CS black stripe. But kudos on that look, I like it.

I've been thinking of doing this for quiet some time and want to know if you took it off to do all the work?

Yes,
I removed the emblems, painted, put on new 3M tape & reattached.
There has been a few threads on taking the factory emblems off. You need to use fishing line, dental floss, etc. to cut through the tape holding the emblem on.

Yeah I knew that, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it w/out taking them off. But I would rather be safe then sorry and just go ahead and take them off.

I am thinking about just buying another set of GT emblems doing the work first and just remove the other ones, that way I have a spare for a rainy day. What do you think? You think its worth it? Or should I just take off the current ones and use them? Does anyone know how much a set of GT emblems are?

BTW what did you use for degreaser? Not exactly sure what you mean...

I used rubbing alcohol for degreaser, you just want to take off any finger oil from handling them prior to painting.
I painted my stockers, but also have a set of new take-offs in chrome I bought off ebay for about 5.00 ea. Just in case i screwed up
You can still find them on there, might be a little more now. Still better than 24.95 ea for factory.

Steve,
Nice ride you have!
Been kicking around the idea of the 70 style stripes myself, but the 69 C-stripes are sharp, and they're not as common as the Rally stripes everyone else has.

PIKE,
No problem, will answer what I can.
No heat gun, just fishing line. Floss kept breaking.
