Do Stipes belong on a Convertible..?
Okay - I have been searching and researching - stripes color combos etc...found the great thread with the spreedsheet on it and all - awesome....
The Mustang I am wanting and looking to get is a convertible.
Almost all the stripe combos I have seen are all on coupes. And every Shelby Convertible I have have seen on ebay does NOT have the stripes. Now Roush does but their thinner stripes on their convertables etc..
So what is the deal with stripes and convertibles - do most people just not do that??
thanks!
Mark

Original Shelby's did not have stripes and the new GT500 Convertibles do not have stripes either. I waffled back and forth on mine, and there are some very nice black convertibles with red stripes. I also looked at a torch red car with black stripes. The stripes look good with the top down, but something is missing when the top is up. Ifinally decided against rally stripes on my convertible.

Here are some different angle with the top up.
I like the verts with stripes but it is all a matter of taste.
There were sixties Shelbys that were dealer striped I have seen.
Stripes add a preformance look to most any car.

On a Shelby - but I think I'm stripe avoidance on the regular GT's.....although I've seen some nice ones on the here in the forum. That white with blue reminds me of the Shelby GT500 comercial where he imports it to Germany "for the roads"....nice shots of the car in action.
Not to stray too much here (well not too much) I really think a great commercial for Ford with the the Mustang GT would be to show a country blacktop road with trees in fall foilage and have the camera at about wheel height tracking the car as it approaches, then flashes by and tracking it into the distance until you can no longer hear the exhaust - and then flash to a screen with the "Mustang GT" and no voice.....to fade out - I know that would grab my attention

LOL. Got it back this evening (tuesday), dealer delevered it. Looks great, will post pics soon. Dealers son delivered it, said they were buffing it out and burned a section, had to redo the trunk. Bummer, both for me and them. Took three weeks to get the stripes, well worth the wait after I saw it, Doug ( the dealers son ) questioned the color, when he saw it in the sun, said it was great and had no doubts about my choice. Also as an added token, the K&N intake he added the polished chrome tube (?) at no cost to make up for the delay. Going to be rainy and cloudy the next few days, sunny on the weekend, will get photos then and post them.
Stripes on a vert?YES, YES, YES,
Somebody stop me.....

I'm not a big fan of top stripes on a 'vert. It CAN look good sometimes, but it's taking a chance imho, unlike a coupe where it nearly always looks killer

What do you guys think about strips only on the front of a vert. I personally love the way stripes look on the front of the car, but dont really car for the back. I recently got the GTH hood installed and it really needs stripes.
