Looking for the "stealth" look.
Anyone know a place to buy painted GT emblems?
I've seen the running pony... a little too pricey for my wallet.
Probably gonna have to get the emblem you want then have someone paint them to match. I haven't seen painted emblems anywhere.

Painting the factory emblems will require scraping off the chrome, or having hireman paint them for you.

Here is a pic of mine...I painted the inset red, instead of factory black.

I sanded the poop out of the chrome...
Primed them,
Then used 5 LIGHT coats of factory matched duplicolor.
LIGHTLY sanded (400 grit) between color coats.
Then applied 3 LIGHT coats of clear coat.

We'll see tonight if they turned out ok.

hey mikes rx, that looks pretty good. wouldn't be a "stealth" look, but i bet that would also look pretty sharp on a white car.

They're not stealth on a black car either. In fact, I did it so the emblems would stand out more. And yes, I think it would look good on white too, especially if you have the red interior and/or red stripes

I've never heard of a Big Block 302 or 281!

Stillen Stang

I am going to call Stillen and see if these badges are available.
They were not on the web site and I haven't found them yet but this
Mustang is being featured in "Modified Mustangs" March 2007 magazine.

Anybody know anything about these? The raised GT is hard to see
but that's the best shot available.

I saw those in this month's issue too, and was interested. Let us know what you find out.

I did call Stillen today but it sent me into voice mail.
I'll be calling from work Monday and I'll get back with the news
Monday evening. If I can get those badges I'll have to dump my Pony
badges I bought but are still sitting around here in the house.

I am in the process of working on my badges....

Having really bad luck so far.
Had to sand past the chrome, past the nickle, and the plastic is really delicate underneath....
Used bondo to fill in the the "black stripe groove" as I wanted a smooth emblem...

(I also ordered a full set of the running pony emblems as a back-up)((not the airbrushed ones, but the stock ones))

Mod Mustang Stillen Badges

I called Stillen and those machined badges will be available in
that style "polished" and also in chrome. They expect it to be
in Spring and it should be in theiir Spring catalogue. They'll be sending
that out to me since I gave them my information.

I'll report back as soon as I see that there or on the website.
