I'm working with a sign shop on custom stripes. Pics aren't that good, but will give you the idea of the black & silver on Torch red.

I'm thinking maybe I would like the black hood stripe solid VS the 2 separate black stripes.

I say give it try--that's the beauty of vinyl, it can be removed. I was seriously thinking of the same type of boss stripe package for my Torch Red, but decided to go with the Mach 1 type look. I'm dying to see what it would look like, so post some pics when able.

that looks really sweet, but it would look better if the stripes connected with eachother on the hood, and made one big black stripe imo.

I agree. I had shown him a drawing I made with a single wide main stripe. That was about a month ago. This fellow is very busy, so I assume he forgot.

Also I think the side stripe needs to be lower onto the next body line. Hard to tell with such a short shot.

I like the silver stripe being surround with a very thin black stripe & the way it goes down the fender & exits toward the rear.

I will call him Monday & tell him to make the changes & will post them.

I want something nobody else will have, so I'm hoping he can come up with something unique.

Thanks Kevin

Looking at my original drawing I had asked for the main stripe to be 20" which is the distance between the 2 squirters.

The body line under the door has a slight upwards flow, you have to be careful to get the right appearance.

Since the 05 Mustang is a "retro" car, I would suggest looking at www.boss302.com, and seeing photos of the original 1970 stripes. Larry Shinoda's design was perfect, and could be modified to fit the new cars perfectly -- just get the proportions correct.

The original car had a wide flat black (painted) stripe down the middle of the hood, flanked by the black stripes on each side, which then turn to the outside, and down the sides of the car.

Also, a little known fact about the origianal BOSS stripes:

They are reflectorized. When light hits at the right angle, or in flash photography, they turn silver. A neat look!!! However, if you choose to do this, the hood and tops of fenders ARE NOT REFLECTORIZED!!! Otherwise, most of the time, they would be silver in the sunlight.

But please, don't use the "302" in the stripes, as the car is not a 302.

Good luck.

This might help with the proportions and sizes:

Thanks guys for your input.

One reason why I am doing custom is I do not want any lettering or numbers.

Any further suggestions greatly appreciated.

Another Idea:

What about painting a portion of the hood flat black with a pinstripe around it (similar to the 69 BOSS), and doing the sidestripes a bit lower, like the 70 Trans-Am BOSS Mustang?

Here is an example of the Trans-Am Stripes on a 70 BOSS. Also, love those wheels, but not available in 18" with custom offsets (yet).
