Crazing in fogs
Finally got to wash the Stang after returning from deployment. I noticed i have some cracking or crazing on my GT fog lenses. I have had Harmon blackout vinyl on them for a long while, but i don't think they would have caused it. anyone else seen this?

Yep. This is the same as what I have. Wonder if the covering kept the heat from dissipating correctly. I'm out of warranty as of Oct, so looks like I will have to suck up the cost of another set....

Its too bad you're out of warranty. The dealer replaced mine no questions asked. I did forget to mention in my thread I had vinyl overlays on the lenses, but the vinyl wasn't very dark. Even so, I think it played a part in the cracking. I sometimes don't even use my headlights, depending where i'm going.

Part of the problem...at least the way I see it...is that everyone thinks they're driving lights...they're supposed to be fog lights...and so, what's happening is that a lot of folks drive around with them on all the time at night...that will cause them to overheat, crack, etc.,...I don't believe that was what they were designed for...(not to mention all the drivers who flash their lights at you thinking you have your high beams on)...

Same cracking here, whether from vinyl cling tint or just overuse, I don't know. Dealership replaced them, but whined a bit. Why can't Ford use a material that is a bit more durable? I mean, how long have they been making fog lights? Are we the first to add tint or to use them continuously? No! The salesman told me that nearly all the fogs on their Explorers did the same thing, and Ford wouldn't cover them under warranty. I guess I was lucky to get new ones, but, well... Come on Ford, just make a quality part in the first place, huh?!

Couldn't agree more with that statement. And the thing is, I have an F250 also, if the trucks on the fogs probably are to, and no cracking or anything like that for 110k+ miles

Fog lights - designed to be used in Fog...
I guess if you want to use them constantly you should think about using lower wattage i.e. cooler bulbs...? Just a thought.
