Clear turn signals, write up?
Clear turn signals, write up?
Hey all,
been searching like h*ll on the forum looking for a write up or at least some pictures of installaing the front clear turn signals (replacing the amber ones).
- Anyone have any good links?
- Perhaps anyone can give some hints how its done? It shouldnt be too difficult, right?
Thanks!

I'm putting mine in this weekend, but I am going with LED bulbs, which are clear till you turn them on.Then they are amber, I also did the rear panel with red LED bulbs. Direct plug in replacement ,made by Jamstrait
here are some pics of my clear turns.

I did not install though, so I can;t help you. I also can't imagine it is too difficult though...
You know, looking at these pics, I think that my car is even lower now with the springs settling...ok, back to topic

There are a lot of places that sell clear, smoked and all various kinds of turn signal lenses. E-bay has TONS - but I had a bad experience ordering mine (http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=68363).
Despite that, when I finally did receive my lenses - I was happy. In fact - I also searched for an instal thread - and this one right here was the one that pointed me in the right direction (Thanks DoctorQ!). I did install the lenses myself without removing the tires. However - I found it to be pretty tricky (especially since I didn't have a stubby phillips head). ...I have since purchased one - as I have the 'stealth bulbs' on order - and will have to repeat the process to install the bulbs.
FYI - stealth bulbs APPEAR chrome - but shine AMBER (Yellow). That way - especially on clear lenses - you don't have an ugly yellow bulb at the center of your clear lenses.

When you ordered your stealth bulbs, did you have to order two different types of bulbs? The 3157 and the 0194? I was reading a lot of the forum comments and some say yes. But when you look it up online it doesnt mention that you need two. Any info would be appreciated.

Go to your local Kragen (or Autozone) and get LED 194 bulbs. Since they are marker lamps only they don't affect your blinker, and they are perfectly clear until switched on.
LED 194 bulbs are a LOT cheaper than the "Stealth" bulbs you'll find online. (Those were $20 a whack if I remember correctly)

Whether you go stealth, amber, or LED for the 3157s, you're gonna want to get the corresponding 194s otherwise you'll have a brightness/hue difference between the two that, to me, was annoying.

I have the amber bulbs up front. Cant tell most of the time, unless they are in direct sunlight. Not enough of an issue to me to justofy buying $50 worth of new bulbs.
