Talking Cleaning rust off RotorPros Rotors

I've seen a lot of posts on here about cleaning rusty rotors and talking about using chemicals, etc. I finally got tired of my RotorPros rotors looking rusty in the slots and drills, so I asked someone who works with cleaning steel for a living. He recommended a stainless steel bristle brush and water. No harsh chemicals, no sanding, just a bit of scrubbing. Gave it a shot today and, to a bit of my surprise, it worked like a champ!

Here's the brush I used:

I simply took the wheels off, dipped the brush in a bucket of clean water and started scrubbing. Without much effort, the rust disappeared! I neglected to take a pic of the rear brakes before scrubbing (as they were way worse than the fronts), but here are a few before and after shots.

Before:

After:

The brush you can likely pick up at Home Depot, but the one I got was from a welding supply store. And while I have no doubt the rust will return, now I know that with 5 minutes of scrubbing with this brush, I can clean it off anytime I want!

You know you have holes in your rotors.

Take some high temp flat black paint and a Q-tip. Run the Q-tip down the slots and into the drilled holes. Let it dry for an hour or so and you will be good to go. Don't worry too much about getting alittle paint on the rotor surface because the pads will knock it right off.

^Interesting I was just looking around for folks who installed these rotors to see how they held up...guess, I know now.

The rotors themselves hold up fine. Unfortunately once the coating is worn off, they tend to rust. But for the price, I don't know that I can complain too much.

BTW - washed the car over the weekend and the rust hasn't come back...
