Nice!!!!!

Burke,

The body shop managed to router out the squiter holes but when they painted them they don't fit now. Any suggestions?

How'd you get your insulation back in?

The original guy at the shop who did mine worked the squirter holes with a file after they installed the hood - basically worked them until the nozzles fit ..... which was fine cause it took in a while and he couldn;t make them too big......

On the other hand he scratched my %#^$#%@$ hood twice..... :bang: :bang: :bang:

That's why I had to take the car back two weeks ago - they took care of the scratches - and hey look at that - that guy didn't work there anymore - go figure. (he had messed up some other stuff as well apparently and they booted him)

So for yours you mean they did the holes first and then after painting the hood, the nozzles didn't fit??...

As far as the insualtion, I have not remounted yet - if I do remount the insualtion blanket, I need to cut a whole for the filter vent.... have been debating the insualtion strip at the back end of the hood - I'm thinking leaving it off helps to vent some of the air pressure under the hood??.....

Be interested in input from anyone who has reintalled either actually.....

Derynf,
The Car looks great!!!! I can't believe all of the black cars that have this hood. It makes them look so mean. Looks like your hood was a great fit. Any problems that you know of?
As far as the strip at the rear of the hood.
I bought a gasket from Pep Boys for about $30 that already has the 3M tape on the back side. It is very long and you can use it for other things.
I haven't installed it yet. I like to think about it for awhile to see if I can come up with several ideas. I think I am going to try and leave the center area open, maybe a foot or so, so it will still have a cowl effect. Just about ready to do this.

Wiper squirers were filed out and installed while I watched. They worked them down with a file so they would be a tight fit. I hope I hope I never have to take those out cause they are tight.

I haven't installed the insulation under the hood. The hood was finished on both sides and Mo at RKSport said that the hood didn't need it.

Thanks Steve,

Body shop didn't charge me for installation, even though they had adjust the quater panels.. SO, I guess I can get a small file and work on the squiter hole's myself.

While I like the look of the California Dream hood on the coupe, I am not convinced that it would look right on a vert. Anyone have a pic to share of an install on a vert or that could do a photochop? I can provide a photo of my wife's vert for use on the chop if needed.

I re-installed the insulation on my hood. I had the underside finished as well when I got the hood painted. Personally I think it's a cleaner look plus it hides the hoses for the wiper squirters. I cut out the area for the filter vent. I think I posted a copule pictures on one of these pages or mabye it was under another topic.

here's a pic:

it's not really that thin. basically bottom half & top half. most of the holes that I drilled were exactly the same as the stock hood. I believe I relocated two of the clips ( one one the driver & one on the passenger sides) due to the fact that they were running close to the outer edge of the hood and there wasn't much of a gap between the top & bottom layers of the hood. I didn't want to run the chance of drilling into the top layer. Took about 15 - 20 min to drill the holes & re-install the insullation. ( If you decide to do it - just remember to drill slow & not to apply too much pressure. )

Can anybody do a photochop of that hood on my car? Here's a few pictures to choose from, not sure which one would be easiest to chop.

Thanks in advance.

Okay,

I got my hood installed and am having a blast with it. I've ordered carbon fiber hood pins. I almost lost it on the highway on Saturday. Dragging another 05 and 2 Cobra's might have had something to do with it, but I had to do an emergency dismount from the freeway.

So anyway, my question is...how do you lower the latch? I loosed the bolt holding the latch in place. but nothing moved.

Anyone out there that can help me?

Lookin good! To lower your latch you have to remove it. There are alignment pin's on the back that keep it from moving. You grind them off and that will allow you movement of the latch. Make sure you pin that hood...Steve's instruction's are great and provide the best place for solid pining.

Body shop lowered the latch. Got it up and over 90 and the baby doesn't even budge. No need for the hood pins. Didn't want to put them on anyway.

Looking forward to the Driive down to Long Beach for the Queen Mary Show, next weekend.
