Have any of you noticed a need to pin the hood. I know on the older models the fiberglass needed to be pined to help prevent the hood vibration at higher speeds.
That is what I was thinking. There really is no place to put them. If you decide to install please post pics as I an curious as to where one would put them.

Actually, so far my hood seems pretty secure - the shop had to drop the latching mechanism down a bit to make it latch firmly... what I have noticed and need to get used to is the fact that the fiberglass is so much lighter wieght, thet you get flex thorugh parts of the hood itself due to the fact that is is so much lighter than stock - but not nessesarily because of the air flow wanting to make it fly off...

Besides fast highway driving, I had it up to 100 three times Saturday at the 1/4 mile track and all is good.....
Actually Lou I was thinking about painting the grills black originally but forgot to tell the shop - afterwards, my brother said DON'T do it - leave it as is and I think he's right.

I got the headlight covers from speedycarparts.com - free shipping and best price compared to others.... delivered quickly. Very happy.
Thanks for the info on the shop having to drop the latch. I will be sure to mention that to the guys at the shop.

As for the grill I think you made an excellent choice in not painting them. I believe you have the best black 05 I have seen to date. Two way up!!!!!

There is a hole just behind the outside front rubber hood stop on the radiator support that would be between the fender and the air inlet on top of the hood.
That looks like it will work. I haven't try to put them on yet but that looks like the best place for them.
When I get the nerve to drill holes in the hood I will post some pictures.
My hood is vibrating more than I like at high speeds also.

Thank you for the input. My car has not arrived as of yet, so I have been looking it over on a friends car. I really like to the look of the hood, and I understand the need for the pins, too me the pins just take away some on the clean look of the hood.

The set that you have is it the pin set or is it a set similar to the old school twist and lock set like on the 69-70 models? I just wonder if a twist and lock set up would look any cleaner.

The pin set I have is not the twist type.
I did buy the Ford Racing pin set which is stainless steel and thicker than the tin on several others I have seen.
I wish I didn't have to put these on, but anything over 70 and the hood makes me a bit nervous.

Some good news and bad news this week.

I called RK sport to find the trackin info for my hood. Frank was very good at getting me the info. I tracked it and discovered a gap in it's trucking.
So, I called my body shop to find out if it had been delivered yet. The guy that's doing the work got on the phone and said, "Deryn, I was at lunch when your hood was delivered. I told the kid in receiving just to mark it as damaged and I would look at it when I got back. I just got back."
I said, "Kelton, I'm just calling to find out if it's been delivered."

Long pause.

Turns out of the truckers had dropped it and a big chip was out of the edge that would be closest to the windshield.

I called RK and they've fired that trucking company, and got another one out the next day.

On another note. My 1/4 window louvers came in from Cal Mustang. They're so cool. They sure change the roof line. Can't drop them off until Friday.
I have a couple more mods and then the official name change on the car. She'll be known as "Black Sunshine" Pictures when we're done.

Well I'll tell you what - so far I am nothing but happy with RK Sport and their customer service.

As far as the fitment of the hood goes, this is my first fiberglass hood so I just confirmed with them that it is going to 'flex' more than a stock aluminum hood for sure at spped and in high wind.

My shop dropped my latch and it makes me a bit nervous worrying about the hood at higher speeds after all the talk about it, but I will tell you - with the hood open and then dropping it to close it from about 6 to 8 inches above the car like I did with the stock hood, it drops home loud and firm just like the stock hood did.

And this hood turns heads lemme tell ya...... no regrets at all for buying it.

I love this hood... Overall quality was great, customer service from RK Sport was great, and the hood turned out great.

I've just about got bracket's fabricated to mount the hood pin's on. The bracket will weld to the radiator support bracket. Over 120 mph and the hood look's like it no longer want's to be a part of the car...

I would love to see pics when you compleated the mod. I have this hood ordered and I am concerned about the need for pins. Any advice, suggestions, etc... that you have after your install is greatly apprecieted.

would it be too much to ask for a company to stamp these hoods out of aluminum? ... or perhaps lay some alloy ribs in the glass? there's gotta be a better way to construct these so they do better at high speeds. I have every intention of getting one when I get my '06, and I'll be testing out the blower fitment as well... so, yeah.... there's gonna be some high speeds.

I need good pics of the underside of the hood. I've got someone working on a filter mod.

Thanks.

Hey Dave and/or Steve, do you guys have any pics of the side profile? I want to see how this hood looks from that angle. I'm all for this hood, except that the cowl is raised up in the rear... I know it's designed to clear a supercharger, which I intend to add, but I don't think they should have raised the cowl to do that... I'm sure one would have fit just fine. I'll bet it had more to do with patent laws than anything else. Anyways.... yeah.... if either of you could post pics of a side profile, I'd much appreciate it.

Sorry Justin, you're invited to share too.

Well truthfully, if it had been as flat as the concept hood I would have dug that a bit more maybe.... but the cowl is cool - not as high as the Steeda hood......

I don't think it's too much....

(these are the only shots I have on me here at work - I have a better high res side closeup of the car that shows it off great - its at home though...)

Right on, man, thanks. I was using your car to show my wife how I'm going to set mine up when I get it. Obviously I'll be doing things a little differently, 'cause, like the rest of us, we all want to have a unique Mustang... but I'll be moving to Cleawater in the next couple of months, so hopefully we won't be accused of being each other.
