Nice filter. How much did that set you back? How much more HP you getting now.
The CAI and filter is the JLT intake. You can get it in black or painted the body color. It ran me $160 for the black, but you need to get a tune with it.
I went with the Xcal 1 and had it tuned at a local shop.
The Xcal was $525(also came with 2 tunes from JDM for the stock box) and the Dyno and tune session was $125.
As you see it can add up fast, but it was worth it.
My car went from 259RWHP to 296RWHP. Not to bad I think for and Automatic.
Also the tuner adjusted the shift pressures on the trany and got rid of the pedal delay.
This thing feels like I am going to rip the hood off now. That's why I will be doing hood pins soon.

Lou, your Black 05 is looking good!!! That's the first outside pic I have seen of it.
Hope we can meet up some time. I wonder if we are the only two in Houston to have this hood. No mistaking us now.

Thanx Steve I've been meaning to give you a call -- but I've had my daughter for the past couple of weeks plus this night shift that I'm working now has killed my social life. Anyways -- I haven't seen anyone else with this hood on the road at all. Other than you & the guys on this site - no one seems to know about it. I've had allot of questions about it. -- Looks like it's just you & me for the time being. I should have some free time here soon -- so hopefully we can meet up soon.

great looking car. I am considering the same hood, however I am a little concerned with a fiberglass hood. My concern is how well it will hold up in a finder bender etc... Do you have any insight, suggestion etc...

Thanks in advance for you suggestions, comments etc...

Don't get into a wreck.
If you do, they fix Vettes don't they? I'm sure they can repair it if the damage isn't to bad. If they can't then back to square one and order a new oneand let the insurance company work out the cost.

For those with a performance white stang who were wondering what this hood would look like and for my own personal satisfaction , plus with the thanks to Steve for giving me a larger pic of his WB beauty, I have photoshopped a white version.

Here is my stripe idea for this hood.
It would consist of the black on the area behind the openings of the hood, black stripe at the bottom of the door panels, black spoiler and blackout between the tailights. What do you think?
I don't have Photoshop so I used MS Paint.

Steve

Has onyone installed one of these on a convertible? I think they look awesome on the coupe, but have a suspicion the front might look a little "bulky" on a 'vert with the top down.

Thank you for your input, however the cars is for my wife who has a very heavy foot, so my concern comes from there. I really like your stripe design. I am eager to see the finished product.

Mine needs a tweak or two here and there to be 100% perfect - but it is on!

(and it turns heads I'll tell you.......)

Have any of you noticed a need to pin the hood. I know on the older models the fiberglass needed to be pined to help prevent the hood vibration at higher speeds.

I like the fact you didn't paint the grille - I was thinking of that myself - but opted to have them paint it all -- Looks sweet

Actually, so far my hood seems pretty secure - the shop had to drop the latching mechanism down a bit to make it latch firmly... what I have noticed and need to get used to is the fact that the fiberglass is so much lighter wieght, thet you get flex thorugh parts of the hood itself due to the fact that is is so much lighter than stock - but not nessesarily because of the air flow wanting to make it fly off...

Besides fast highway driving, I had it up to 100 three times Saturday at the 1/4 mile track and all is good.....

Actually Lou I was thinking about painting the grills black originally but forgot to tell the shop - afterwards, my brother said DON'T do it - leave it as is and I think he's right.

I got the headlight covers from speedycarparts.com - free shipping and best price compared to others.... delivered quickly. Very happy.
