BOSS stripes
BOSS stripes
First off, I'm new here and I'm sure this has been asked but don't have access to a computer currently, and my phone is acting up. My question is how difficult is it to install the BOSS style striping yourself? I know the "general process" is similar to that of doing tint which I am fine at. Also what do you think they would cost to be installed, if I chose to go that route instead? Thanks guys,
Josh

Hey Josh,
watchdevil just installed some Boss style stripes on his Stang. Looks great and I think he installed them himself (not sure though). Here's the thread:

I appreciate the link, that's similar, but I'm looking at doing the hoodstripes that connect and go down the fender and turn into a rocker stripe all the way to the rear bumper.
The info on it was great though!

Is this what you're looking to do? This is my car. The angles of the kit are more intricate than they appear. I finally had a professional install them... I suggest you do the same, unless you have experience... here are some pics of my car...

That is the same style, yes. If you don't mind my asking what did it cost you to get it installed? I know it will vary by shop just thinking of what I should expect.
The only kind of "experience" I've had was doing tinting, similar concept very different in reality.

Thanks guys... i got the stripe kit from autotrimdesign...

EXCELLENT product, EXCELLENT customer service!!!
The price has gone up since I got them, but the quality is second to none. I had a local guy here in Charlotte put them on, he charged $200.
The car is actually alloy gray and the flat black stripe kit stands out great now that I have the silver pin stripes on it, which did NOT come with the kit. Those were about $30 extra. i do notice that if they ever get rained on (which is rarely), that they show water spots for a little while until the humidity goes down then it goes away. I've found you gotta watch out for the oil from your hands and fingers more than just water.
Thanks for the compliments

I really like your car and the stripe package was a nice touch, I always opt for a professional install on complex things and you made the right choice.
Now step two is a CDC Shaker Cold Air Intake to complete the car. Nicely done.

Actually that extra bit on the last foot or so of the decal is meant to be trimmed off by the installer. Some kits add the extra width incase they have to heat and stretch the vinyl at the font of the hood due the compound curve it has. It looks kinda cool with it still on though.
I cut my own boss stripes and we installed them ourselves. It's not the easiest thing in the world to do especially the center stripe. if you use the hinge method and take your time its not bad. also helps if you get the application solution lets you slide it around until you squeegee it down. Wrinkles are your biggest worry. I just hit my flat black stripes with meguires quick wax or final detail do the same for my rear louvers no water spots.
