Black on Vista Blue?
Black on Vista Blue?
I'm kicking around the idea of striping the Vista Blue. The white on blue looks fantastic, especially Adrenalins. I like the way the rear of that car is laid out, especially the blackout panel and the black tail light bezels. But....the white on blue is common and I want something off the beaten path.
Would a similar set-up with black stripes work? Thats such a dark blue. I've kicked around other colors besides white but something about black has me intrigued. Somedays I look at the car and think it could work, other days not so sure. Same with black DD Bullits....
One other thing. I like the Steeda cowl hood and thats part of the problem also. Is that thing even stripable with the angles of that hood? Doen't look to be from pictures.
Thoughts or suggestions?

I was planning on doing black stripes on my Vista for months.......but eventually I decided on white because it just makes the car pop. Here's my advice:
-If you want the car to stand out from the crowd and get people's attention, get white. You can see the white on blue from a mile away.
-If you want something different from both the factory look and what some other people are doing, and also something that isn't necessarily going to attract alot of attention, do black. It is very subdued IMO.
Also, don't forget about silver as an option too.

I would have done the white like Adrenalin, but it would have looked stupid with the black vert top. I like the subdued look and am very pleased with the results. Once the stripes need to be replaced, they will be painted on from the bottom of the bumper to the bottom of the other bumper. I am also considering a black stock spoiler.
Scott, I can add to the topic. While my car's stripes are painted white, I recently sold a V6 Pony Package, in Vista Blue, with Black leather seats to a girl last month. She paid to have Black painted stripes on it. To tell you, it looked really good. It's a subtle look, and that's why she went with black. She saw my car, and the white on Vista Blue was too over the top for her. I wish I got a pic of the car, but I didn't have my camera with me.
One thing with Vista Blue, when its really sunny out, the real color comes out, and it's a brilliant royal (almost Guardsman) blue, but when the sun goes away, or at night, its a more medium to dark blue. Just this weekend, while my hood was up, the one side was real royal, the other side was dark. The color is different, depending on where the light source hits it. I LOVE THIS COLOR!!!!

Hey Scott, I'm thinking the same thing. The white on blue is really nice and stands out, but I think this time I'm going for a more subtle look. I had a white mustang with blue stripes before this one. Now that I've got a blue mustang, I don't want to do white stripes. I'm planning on painting my car with some temporary spray paint in about two weeks just to make sure I like the black on blue look. If you can wait, I'll post some pics of it when I'm done.
On a side note, if you're going to get the Steeda cowl hood, I don't know if the stripes would look too good, but that's just my $.02

Thanks to all for the input. ****, that white just looks so right on the Vista blue. I liked some of the pics of the black striped vert but at some angles it just doesn't stand out enough. My initial reaction after seeing one striped white at the dealership was, "I'm doing that if/when I stripe it." Then I saw Adrenalins blog/thread. I think I gotta go with that initial reaction and the pics I've seen here and elswhere...... Maybe the white is a bit over the top, but I suppose the future blower is too, so I don't want a mismatch
I don't mind the attention at all, although I just picked up 6 points of unwanted attention last week w/o stripes
As for the hood....that pains me a great deal. I love the Steeda Cowl hood but I agree, just can't see stripes working on that. Now in that case, I might just go with a blue/black cowl hood. Ahh, the pains of addiction and uncertainty. Shoulda just kept the
